A Wonderful Stay at the Lowfield Inn – A Hidden Gem on the English-Welsh Border We had a fantastic stay at the Lowfield Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Our family room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with plenty of room to relax, including a sofa. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep in a quiet and peaceful setting. The inn features a lovely common area and a roof terrace with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. The scenery is stunning and perfect for enjoying long walks along the border between England and Wales. The pub itself is a true highlight—offering a great selection of traditional cask ales and a very welcoming beer garden where you can enjoy the evening sun. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the staff are genuinely helpful and accommodating. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as pencils and paper provided for children. As for the food: it was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The menu offers a wonderful mix of traditional English pub fare and Indian dishes, all prepared with creativity and care. The starters were delicious, the mains were generous and satisfying, and the desserts were absolutely indulgent. The children’s menu was also well thought out and very appealing. Breakfast was equally impressive, with a wide selection and very generous portions—no one left hungry! There’s also plenty of parking space, which made everything even easier. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return the next time we’re in the area.

J'ai réservé une seule nuit pour rompre notre voyage à Galles du Nord de Londres, donc mes attentes n'étaient pas si élevées, je voulais juste un lit pour la nuit. La location était à quelques pas de la gare Shrewsbury, à une petite rue de la rue principale. Je ne savais pas qu'il serait très bruyant, et il y avait en fait une bande jouant dans le pub la nuit de notre séjour - notre chambre était directement au-dessus de cela! Alors nous sommes allés au lit tard! La chambre était bien équipée, confortable et propre, et la bande était en train de jouer des chansons. J'avais réservé le petit déjeuner mais parce que je ne savais pas à quel moment il commencerait et qu'il devait être sur un train précoce, je ne pouvais pas rester pour cela. Pour compenser la dame qui nous a vérifiés en gentil offre de nous faire dîner au lieu de nous, nous avons eu des sandwiches, des noix, des crabes et des snacks du bar à prendre avec nous, que j'appréciais, quand j'étais en voyage avec mon jeune fils.

This is a lovely place, we stayed in the ‘cottage’ which was more like an annexe building and it had two rooms of which we occupied one. The room was good, we enjoyed breakfast in the dining room and the breakfast menu had a lot of choice too which was great. There were options for a full English style breakfast, but also options for cereals and fruits etc. We decided to try dinner at the hotel one evening and we were extremely happy with our choice. The food was excellent quality and very enjoyable. The hotel is a short walk into the centre, very close to the castle which is worth a visit and you can see the castle from the road you walk on from the hotel to the city.

Nous avons lu les commentaires et savions qu'il était au-dessus d'un pub vivant, et alors qu'il y avait du bruit comme nous avons été vérifiés à Steve et Louis nous disons qu'ils feront leur mieux pour avoir le niveau de bruit inférieur à environ 11h, et ils l'ont fait. Le pub et le restaurant sont magnifiques, mais nous n'avons pas essayé cette fois parce que nous avions des plans et des réservations antérieurs. Nous voulons essayer la prochaine fois. La chambre était magnifique, magnifique et historique, la salle de bain était spacieuse et propre. Nous vous conseillerions certainement (s'il vous plaît savoir qu'il y a un bruit fort possible mais il est possible qu'il disparaisse plus tard, donc il était parfait pour nous ) et nous resterions certainement encore !

No choice of cooked breakfast , no room service on first day and had to ask for clean towels, no shower gel- shampoo as advertised, dangerous exit on to highway - needs mirrors, faulty light switch for bathroom which was replaced after 2 days

What a lovely find this was. Really lovely room, right in the middle of town and our host Donna couldn't have been more helpful. We would really recommend staying here if you're visiting the local area. We'll definitely be back.

It is a brilliant experience. The hostel is near the museum and also Victoria Village. Be aware of the check-in time in Winter as it is an hour later than the closure of the nearest by museum.

Excellent stay. Made to feel very welcome. Enjoyed the picnic basket breakfasts and dinner the restaurant. I will definitely stay here again!

Lovely stay and meal, my only issue was the amount of flies present in the bar and dining room!
