Ne pas faire attention au commentaire du Guide du Routard qui insiste sur la vue sur un grand parking: en fait c'est une vaste esplanade quoi ne gâche pas du tout la vue très large sur la mer..et depuis l'hôtel on est en 5 mn à pied du centre historique de Trapani Hôtel moderne (ou récemment refait à neuf), chambre confortable, salle de bains nickel Personnel très accueillant et plein de bons conseils (à part peut être le service du petit déjeuner un peu débordé et, influence des touristes français qui sait? aussi aimables que les célèbres serveurs de cafés parisiens - on a du un peu tempêter pour que l'un d'entre eux finisse enfin par nous gratifier d'un regard et nous préparer notre café) je rejoins également un autre tripadvisoriste pour déplorer qu'au pays des orangers on doive se contenter de jus lyophilisés de fruits à la fontaine du petit déjeuner - mais, passons, ils sont bons) Pour les routards comme nous (sans voiture) il est intéressant de noter que l'hôtel est également à moins de 5 min à pied de la gare de Trapani et du départ des bus de la compagnie Segesta (qui dessert le reste de la Sicile depuis Trapani)

Le petit déjeuner était magnifique et agréable. Ils nous ont donné des idées pour différents types de restaurants, l'un à qui nous sommes allés était un restaurant de pizza, c'était la meilleure pizza que j'aie jamais mangée ! L'hôtel est situé au centre du port et des plages, au milieu des routes pour vous emmener aux magasins. Il est calme avec un grand parc automobile (payable) et une place de type jardin. Il y a un fabuleux café/bacerie attaché à l'immeuble. Le centre de la ville est très bien situé, mais il est très bien situé.

La Gancia is a hotel overlooking the water in Trapani. The TA reviews were very positive, but when I called to reserve they were full. They suggested the Gaura Apartments, which they operate next door. We booked 2 apartments, one being the penthouse. Both apartments had balconies overlooking the sea. The penthouse had an additional one with a dramatic view of the duomo. The apartments were very clean and large with a separate sleeping area apart from the living room. The doors to the balconies can be fully opened and the sea sits just below your window. The staff at La Gancia provide the same concierge services as the hotel. I have never been greeted by a more helpful and cheerful staff. A special call out to Claudia,Aurora, and Andria who helped us with anything we needed or had difficulty with. I want to add that I found the travel guidebooks I used did a disservice to the city of Trapani. The old city is charming ,and the port to the islands is very close to the hotel and apartments. Erice, accessed from a cable car ride on the edge of town was absolutely magical and one could easily spend a full day there. We had only booked 2 nights in Trapani and left sooner than we would have wished. Consider this location as a base to the towns on the west coast of Sicily.

I am sorry to post this review but we had a rather strange experience that was not dealt with well by the hotel at all. We had booked for 2 nights only. First night. My partner went to bed earlier than me and I had a late drink just outside in a bar. When I went to the room my partner was asleep. This was approximately 1 am, there was no one at reception at that time. In the room I went to open the bathroom door and the handle came off in my hand. It is a mirrored door with no instructions on whether to push or pull. Anyway there was no way to fix it back into place and there we were without a bathroom! No way to go to the toilet and our medications locked inside. So I went downstairs and still nobody on reception. Went back upstairs and looked the reception number and the emergency number. I called them both. No answer! So I went back downstairs once again. I looked everywhere and eventually found the receptionist in the kitchen listening to a radio show on his phone. Hence why he did not hear the reception phone. He spoke good English and I explained the situation. So we both went upstairs (my wife was still asleep in bed). He also decided it could not be fixed and offered for us to change rooms up to the 3rd floor. OK that was alright but he wanted us to move our luggage there and then and said he would help. By now it is around 2 am, I have a sleeping wife (awake by now) and this was simply not on. I said we would take the room (what else could we do) but that the luggage was going nowhere. Anyway we went to the upper room and was told by the receptionist that it was an upgrade. We actually didn't like it as much at all. But I digress. The next morning the manageress was there and she had heard about the incident and was very apologetic but not giving an inch. Her words were 'These things happen'. At the time I was speaking to her my friend a local from Trapani had arrived at the reception and I didn't want to cause any scene. The next day we were very tired and this affected everything that we did well into the next evening. I'd thought about what had happened during the day and how the hotel had dealt with it. I also mentioned it to some our our Italian fiends who said that they would have insisted on not paying for that night. Anyway it goes on. When we returned late that evening there was a cheap bottle of 7 euro fizzy wine with an apology note. When were we supposed to drink this exactly? We were leaving the next morning back to UK. And carry it? So on checking out I decided that the whole experience had been somewhat of an insult. I wanted to remonstrate with the manageress but she was not there. I placed the bottle of cheap fizzy wine on the reception counter....It is a pity because the hotel was nice and the breakfast was very nice. However the staff need customer training as it is all gloss with no substance. The fancy fittings in the rooms are also suspect.

Magnifique domaine entouré de vignes, l’accueil fut très froid et impersonnel. On nous donne les clés de la chambre, à nous de la trouver et de nous installer. Pareil pour les bagages: le parking étant à quelques centaines de mètres en contrebas, nous n’obtenons aucune aide pour monter les bagages. Grande chambre pour une famille de 4 personnes. Climatisation pas suffisante, petit frigo mini-bar ne fonctionnant pas suffisamment pour refroidir les bouteilles d’eau. Calme mais loin de la ville. Grande salle de petit déjeuner et restaurant. Possibilité de déguster et d’acheter du vin produit par la propriété. Les serveurs sont trop formatés professionels. On a l’impression qu’ils veulent être plus sympas, plus proches des clients mais qu’ils n’ont ont pas le droit. Ils ont du mal à s’exprimer en anglais ou en français mais font manifestement des efforts. Magnifique piscine supposée fermée à 19:00 mais on nous en chasse à 18:37. Possibilité de boire un verre sur l'une des terrasses mais lorsqu'on demande à avoir une petite salade tomate-mozzarella, pourtant à la carte, on nous annonce que cela n'est possible qu'en allant au restaurant. Dommage, cela aurait été très convivial et il n'y avait pas tellement de monde au restaurant ce soir là, ils auraient pu faire les quelques mètres nécessaires pour nous apporter ce plat pourtant froid et ne demandant pas un service compliqué.

Hotel d'intérieur agréable, parfait pour un point de chute confortable après une journée de visite touristique. Mais ne convient pas en tant que lieu de vacances balnéaires, la plage est sale et mal entretenue. L'hôtel est situé au bord d'une route très fréquentée, qu'on entend bien depuis les terrasses extérieures (bien qu'elles donnent sur la mer, donc de l'autre côté), mais la chambre est calme. Le personnel est sympathique et souriant. Jolie décoration d'intérieur à la réception et au bar. La propreté des tables et des vitres nous a fait loucher (est-ce si difficile de passer un coup de torchon quand les marques sont bien visibles?). Le petit-déjeuner est classique, sans être exceptionnel. A noter la possibilité de se faire un jus d'orange fraîchement pressé. En résumé, nous y retournerions comme logement depuis lequel visiter les beautés environnantes, qui, à part la mer, ne sont pas à côté de l'hôtel, mais proches.

Beautiful building in a perfect location in the heart of Trapani. Great value, great location for bars and restaurants. The little cafe just down the street made fresh food and lovely coffee. The staff were so friendly and helped with booking trips to the islands from the port which is a few minutes walk away. They also recommended restaurants to eat, how to get to the beach and the cable car to Erice all within easy reach. The staff also organised our transfer to the airport. Great service would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you! 😊

Il a été agréable de rester dans les plafonds et les chambres d'Historico à Trapani Italie. La chambre était très belle et propre. Il n'y avait pas de petit déjeuner, mais je pense qu'il est mieux de cette façon. J'ai essayé de laisser des conseils pour les filles 3 fois, mais ils ne l'ont pas pris. La réception était ouverte 2 fois par jour, et leur anglais était très bon et ils étaient très utiles. Je resterai certainement ici, si nous revisions Trapani. 👍👍👍👍👍
