We stayed overnight in the hotel twice, before and after a tour. We were also able to check in early, about 9am, after an overnight flight for an extra charge of half the overnight charge: we really appreciated that. The staff are welcoming and try to be helpful, although it’s not always easy to communicate in English. We were really confused by the question that the receptionist asked: what is the currency of your Visa card? As we were going to be paying with a multi-currency debit card then it wasn’t obvious what we should answer. However, once we’d realised the problem we could then reply with the currency that would be used for that transaction. (Did they want to do the currency conversion at their rate?) The two different rooms we had were both comfortable, each with a large king-size bed. The shower was spacious – but the big problem was that it took about 5 minutes of running the water for any hot to come through. There were a few little maintenance issues: several of the lights didn’t work, the bathroom sink plug did not go up and down and on one night we were only supplied with one towel. There weren’t many people staying when we were there and we had an evening meal by ourselves (possibly because it was Ramadan and Muslims had eaten earlier). The food and drink were fine, though the meat was very tough. Had a lovely hot chocolate mid-afternoon from the bar – very classy! There was a reasonable choice of things to eat at breakfast.
