I was racially profiled by the GM named, Betty Carter. She approached me, not to mention touched me, accusing me to be another resident who assumingly caused damages (she never explained why). She asked if I came here with a company "Iron Man" or whatever and I continued saying no! She never believed anything I said when I confirmed that I reside in FL and she kept talking about my hair because it looks like the other guest. I kept asking what's the problem but she never answered. She made me come to the front desk and continued to accuse me of being someone else but never explained the reason. While present, Joe Wright, Sales Manager, made a negative comment in front of my face in regard to whatever they were attempting to accuse me of. He apparently was on her side as well. Again, I kept asking what the problem was but she never confirmed, so I left. Following that event, my partner attempted to go downstairs to speak with her and got stuck in the elevator for over an hour and Betty Carter took 30-plus minutes to call who she needed to. At this point, my sister was present to see what was going on. On top of that, she (Betty) came back talking rudely to us stating that she called them and she doesn't know what else we want her to do as if she was doing us a favor. Her demeanor felt as if she did not want to do it in the first place. I kept asking her what the third degree was and inquired about the elevator key because we were only trying to get my partner out safely even though they did not have the elevator key present (which took 20 minutes to find even after the firemen went to another hotel to borrow one.) To make matters worse Joe Wright continued to be very rude. He also kept bringing up the fact that I look like the other guest stating, "Well they say everyone has a twin." I told him that whatever they are trying to say, I need to be informed because I was uncomfortable at that point. We were treated as if we had done something wrong. The constant deep sighs and eye rolling continued to occur. After my partner was finally released, we asked to be moved to the first floor but while we were waiting, we were ignored by both parties. The apology was nowhere near sincere and not to mention, we were informed by other guests in the lobby that ANOTHER guest got stuck in the elevator the day before, but we were under the impression that it was fixed (it obviously was not). After asking to be switched to another room on the first floor, both Betty Carter and Joe Wright made it seem as if WE were the problem and we did not initially ask for a refund. Both Betty and Joe continued responding with sly remarks and we then asked for a refund because we were confused about why we were getting the 3rd degree when we did nothing wrong. Their attitudes were TERRIBLE and after asking for the refund, Betty STILL kept mentioning my hair and I explained to her that whatever she is implying has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
