Ostello Bigallo is a beautiful, sustainable gem. The staff is warm and welcoming, the rooms are stunning, and everything is incredibly clean. Keep in mind, you’ll need a car or can take a local bus and walk about 20 minutes on a road without a sidewalk to reach the property. I have one unexpected experience which ruined my experience: I arrived a little after midnight and found the door leading to the garden—which gives access to the rooms—locked. I hadn’t been informed that the front desk closes at midnight and that this door would be locked afterward. As a result, I wasn’t able to get to my room and ended up waiting until 5 a.m., when I was luckily able to reach friends who came to help. I was able to find an empty bed and crash. Thank heavens my friend helped me. My friend who hosted me and paid for the room- was not offered any money back and that truly upset me. Though I didn’t get to use my room, I think it is basic that the hostel provide an emergency contact for situations like this. It is unacceptable to not have an emergency contact. Aside from that, it’ seemed like a nice place!
