After arriving at my room, I called the front desk to complain about the fact that there was no screen on the balcony between my room and the adjacent room, dividing the balcony and providing privacy and security for my balcony door. The front desk advised that they will send maintenance to come and have a look but also assured me that it should not be an issue as the adjacent room was unoccupied. However, later that evening when I wanted to sit on my balcony, the adjacent room’s outside balcony light was turned on the doors and curtains were open and I could see and hear someone moving about in the room. The next morning, I reported it again to the front desk and they again undertook to have maintenance look into it. They did not offer an explanation as to why the room was occupied after I was told it is unoccupied. However, they assured me that the person staying in that room, would be checking out that morning and that the room would be unoccupied thereafter. However, that afternoon, I wanted to sit on my balcony and again the doors and curtains were open and I could see and hear someone moving about in the room. Same thing in the evening. I again reported it to the front desk. They again did not offer any explanation as to why the room was now occupied after they told me it would not be occupied. The balcony screen should in the first place have been there, I would have expected that in a hotel like this that if it had been damaged or removed, it should have been immediately replaced or a temporary solution should have been implemented. I could not use the balcony once during my stay and had to keep my door closed and locked, and the curtains closed throughout my whole stay. This was very disappointing because I might as well have not had a balcony and I could not enjoy the view or the ocean air. Besides the privacy issue, for security reasons I cannot leave my door open where a stranger from next door can just walk in. All in all, my stay was very disappointing and what is even more disappointing, that the staff’s responses to my complaint were untrue every time. I even emailed 3 managers with my complaint, and they did not even bother to acknowledge receipt of my complaint, much less address it. I would not stay there again.
