Secured a room at what I thought was Hollow Inn and Motel in Barre, VT-- it's really New World Inn, I believe recently purchased and renamed, but all the listings are for Hollow Inn. The inn is very dated and that was fine, it was clean which is the most important part. My room was simply *massive* for a solo traveler, felt a bit weird being in such a huge room. The bed was fairly firm, not a lot of give to the springs but was a decent night sleep for the two nights I was there. There was an extra pillow and blanket available which was nice. The shower was *hot* and the water pressure was great. I did not partake in the breakfast offerings as I was out and hiking early, so no opinion on that. The room did have a diffuser in it that was cranking, but I unplugged it and the overwhelming smell diminished quickly. The TV had a wide variety of channels and the balcony was a decent spot to sit. The small fridge, sink and microwave were clean and presentable and the surfaces, while worn were clean and tidy. Overall, the inn is on the older side, they still use physical keys instead of the plastic cards so that was kind of novel. The doors stick and some things you need to jiggle or pull tight but it was a clean place to sleep while hiking/exploring the area. Convenient to Rt. 89 and the area has a lot to offer. This was an 'emergency' booking as my prior plans fell through and I needed an affordable place to stay to continue my vacation and this Inn worked out fine. I saw the gentleman who checked me in out doing landscaping and doing work around the place so it's a work in progress. If you're just looking for a base camp for your exploring and just need a hot shower without the frills and prestige of bigger name (and price tags) this place might suit your needs.
