Subject: Formal Complaint Against Daisyinn Budget Hotel Kuala Terengganu for Misrepresentation and Substandard Facilities
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
I am writing to formally complain Daisyinn Budget Hotel Kuala Terengganu, located at:
Lot 11453, Jalan Tengku Ampuan Intan Zaharah, Kampung Gong Datuk, Batu Rakit, Terengganu 21030, Malaysia.
I booked this property through Trip.com for May 23, 2025, to May 25, 2025, for my friend Mr. Ghulam Dastagir, expecting it to be a legitimate hotel as listed. However, upon arrival, Mr. Ghulam discovered that this establishment does not meet the basic criteria of a hotel as defined by the Tourism and Hospitality Department of Malaysia.
My concerns are as follows:
1. No Proper Signage: The property lacks a visible signboard even no signboard at all, which is a mandatory requirement for hotels operating under the laws and standards of the Malaysian tourism industry. Because of that my friend taken almost half an hour to search this place.
2. No Reception Area: There is no reception or staff to provide assistance, check-in service, or customer support. The place is entirely self-service and gives the impression of an illegally run accommodation. Upon arrival, Mr. Ghulam was asked by a reasonable man to go upstairs and room 2 is ready for you, no key handling, or passport checking etc, and room was open.
3. Improper Setup: The so-called “hotel” appears to be a play hall with four very small rooms constructed on the rooftop. While the rooms have basic amenities like air conditioning, bed, cupboard, and television, the in-room washroom is substandard and poorly maintained.
4. Overpricing and Misrepresentation: I paid RM 193.62 for two nights, which is far beyond the value offered by this place. Based on the facilities and standards, it is not even worth RM 50 per night. This pricing feels deceptive and exploitative.
5. Questionable Legality: Based on our observation and the feedback of local contacts and friends in the area, I strongly believe this hotel is not licensed by the relevant authorities and is operating without proper regulation or oversight.
Due to the extremely poor conditions and disappointment, my friend Mr. Ghulam chose to vacate the property and shift to another hotel for the next night, incurring additional costs.
Requested Actions:
I urge Trip.com to delist this property from your platform until it is investigated and verified to comply with tourism regulations.
I request the Tourism Authorities of Malaysia conduct an inspection of this property and take appropriate action if it is found to be operating without a license or in violation of hospitality standards.
I also request a partial or full refund for the amount paid due to this misrepresentation.
This kind of operation not only harms tourists like me but also tarnishes the reputation of Malaysia’s tourism industry. I hope my complaint will be taken seriously and prompt action will be taken to prevent such fraudulent practices in the future.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely
Mr. GHULAM DASTAGIR
