The Squirrels Nest is a quaint, historic log cabin overlooking the James River in Buchanan, Virginia. It is available as a vacation rental with a two (2) night minimum stay. There are three bedrooms and two baths and can accommodate up to six (6) guests. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and Bedroom 3 has two twin beds. The Kitchen is fully equipped and there is a large flat screen TV in the living room. Covered picnic area at the rear of the property overlooking the river and Town of Buchanan. The Squirrels Nest is located near many local attractions that are within walking distance such as Antiques shopping, the swinging bridge, fishing, canoeing, tubing and kayaking on the James River. Other attractions not too far away include The Natural Bridge, Safari Park, and Zoo. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and numerous hiking or biking trails. « I was looking for a hotel in Salem and couldn't find one, so I stayed at this motel. Of course, it's far from Salem, it's about a 20 minute drive. I thought that this motel is near the highway and is frequented by people who are tired from long journeys. There were a lot of customers on weekends. I stayed for 3 nights and had one cleaning during that time. I think they probably didn't clean it again because it was clean. There was no toothpaste and brush. But that was not important to me either. I can't say that it's very clean, but for such a cheap place, it seemed reasonable to me. There is a McDonald's nearby. If you don't have a car, I would recommend not staying at this motel. »

« Le service de la chambre est très confortable et très confortable. Le petit déjeuner est très bon, vous pouvez vous amuser. Le samedi après-midi, le bureau de la maison était très utile avec des instructions et des recommandations, et quand nous avons besoin d'un couteau pour couper quelques citrons et des limes, elle s'est échappée de sa façon de le recevoir. Ne laissez pas la localisation idiote vous il y a beaucoup à faire dans 15 minutes de la propriété et juste à la route 3 minutes ou moins juste à propos de tout ce que vous avez besoin est là Kroger, goodwill, abc store, Wendy's, etc.... Nous serons de retour pour rester dans quelques semaines encore. Les amis bar et bar ont été magnifiques et la rock latino-noc ! »

Located in Botetourt County, only 10 minute drive to the town of Daleville, Sunnybrook Farm is nestled in the heart of the of the Famous Triple Crown Hiking Trails, with Tinker Cliffs only a mile away. Sunnybrook Farm consists of 9 plus acres where you will find a refreshing pool to relax in or if you prefer a hot tub is available. There is a koi pond you can visit and feed the fish while listening to the frogs sing. In the evening, please come and make yourself at home and join us at the fire pit. The studio apartment is located on the ground level of our home, however there is no entry access to the main house, allowing you complete privacy. Fiber internet and TV is provided. You will also find coffee, bottled water, and a few snacks available as well. Centrally located between Roanoke and Salem, 15 minutes from I81, Roanoke College is only 16 miles away, Hollins University is approximately 15 miles away and 28 miles (40 minute commute) to VA Tech. There are many attractions in the area such as craft breweries, VA Transportations Museum, Center In The Square, Tubman Museum of Art, are just to name a few. Mill Mountain Zoo, along with fine dining, coffee shops and seasonal concerts in Daleville and Roanoke are also popular activities many enjoy. A couple’s secluded retreat in a newly constructed (2020) single level creek view cabin complete with knotty pine interior with vaulted ceiling. A great isolated location for remote office work as our high speed internet supports Zoom meetings. Our cabin is cleaned after each stay and Our filtered well water is processed through a UV filter and wash back system. No odor, no staining, taste is excellent.

Relax on 33 x10 foot walkout Trex flooring deck with cable railings for optimum view of the creek. Bird feeders and hummingbird feeders offer close bird viewing from the deck.
The parking area is equipped with a 230Vac/120Vac charge station for electric vehicles.
Numerous hiking/biking/birding /horse riding trails within one mile of our cabin. 45 minute drive from McAfee Knob, one of the most photographed spots on the Appalachian trail. Occasional sightings of Bald and Golden eagles along the creek. Kayaks and floats supplied for floating and fishing on Craigs creek.
Outdoor fire ring with plenty of split wood , charcoal grill, and Webber gas grill for outdoor cooking. Local restaurants and shopping from 15 to 45 minutes driving distance away in New Castle, Daleville, and Clifton Forge.
A favorite pastime is searching Craig’s creek for heart shaped rocks and hiking/biking numerous roads and trails located 1 mile west of our cabin in the adjacent Jefferson national forest.
Note. A Ring security system is installed in the cabin complete with window/door opening and smoke/fire alarm monitoring. Also there is a camera/ doorbell with the system as well as a camera mounted at the tractor shed. During occupancy the ring system and doorbell camera are disabled for your privacy.
