"Nous avons passé l'été dernier à l'exploration du village de Talkin, et nous avons pensé que nous aurions aimé rester là, en raison de notre chance. Il était assez occupé au pub quand nous sommes arrivés, mais nous avons immédiatement été accueillis avec un sourire et 'hola' du personnel, ce qui nous a fait sentir très bienvenus. Le petit déjeuner est un petit déjeuner de plus en plus gros, et les sauces de Cumberland les plus belles que nous ayons eues depuis longtemps. La chambre était très propre et confortable. Nous avons eu un sommeil décent après avoir marché le dîner avec une promenade de soirée le long de la voie au village de Farlam. Nous l'aimions absolument ici et ne pouvons pas attendre une occasion de revenir."

"Having stayed at this hotel a number of years ago under previous owners we were delighted with the renovated public areas and rooms. Fresh welcoming and tastefully decorated. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The highlight was the food it was exceptional, in quality flavour and presentation. Definitely value for money, a chef with a real passion for food, which is not the case at the moment where some Michelin restaurants put profit before quality. Will definitely return and highly recommend Farlam Hall."

"We stopped in recently on a weekday for breakfast to treat ourselves and it was pretty disappointing. Two full 'Dickens' breakfasts that are described as including Cumberland sausage came with sausages that tasted to us like just standard pork chipolatas (no peppery flavour), but I accept that's pretty subjective. However, my husband's fried eggs were overcooked with no liquid or even jammy yolk at all and about half of the white of my poached eggs were still in the half-raw snot stage plus they hadn't been properly drained so there was a puddle of water on my plate. We also had to ask for butter for the toast, the mushrooms hadn't been trimmed so the cut ends of the stalks were tough and the tomato was full of hard green core inside. It all came across as so low effort, 'that'll do' mentality. In another review, the management responded to a criticism of the food with 'We always encourage guests to let a member of our team know while they are with us, as we would much rather have the opportunity to resolve any concerns immediately.' Well, we told our waitress about the eggs (just the eggs, because honestly we would have felt like such a pair of a***holes listing everything that was wrong), and her response was 'Sorry about that'. That was it. No offer of remaking the undercooked eggs or a bill reduction, not so much as a free top-up of tea (you don't get a drink included with your £13 breakfast). Training issue or policy? Who knows, and the effect on the customer is the same either way. The card machine was presented with the increasingly common simpering 'It'll just ask you a little question' and the question is, of course, an attempt to squeeze more money out of you in the form of a tip. I nearly laughed. The whole thing left us feeling like we'd been mugs for walking through the door. We're locals but I can't see us going back."
