Castillo Playa

Just got back from a two week stay here. We visit Caleta regularly and usually stay on the Puerta del sol complex, but as there were 8 of us in the group, we booked a package deal here and this was quite reasonably priced. What a gem this is, although a good 10 minute walk to our usual haunts there are plenty of restaurants and bars a short walk away, and 5 minutes to the beach. The rooms are basic and could do with updating, which I believe is in progress, they were cleaned daily and had the main English channels on the TV. The staff are extremely friendly, which seemed to rub off on the guests as everyone was more than happy to pass the time of day. ( a special shout out to Brian and Steve who were a right laugh even though they were Leeds fans 😉 ). The pool bar was great and really cheap for both food and drinks. the girls that work in there are hard working and good fun. Overall a great place to stay if you want a reasonably priced friendly holiday.

Lovely quiet complex brilliantly located for the shops and restaurant areas. Bungalows are good, a little dated as others say but very clean and everything works. Good WiFi in the rooms as well. Pool was lovely, quite warm. Staff including cleaners and security guards all very friendly. The child's play park and fitness equipment in some photos are no longer there. We had a lovely 10 days and would definitely use this place again if we return

Absolutely brilliant apartments in a prime location for beach and town all the staff are great from the manager down to cleaners a special mention goes to the five girls who run the bar/restaurant so friendly and helpful also very reasonable prices we will be back

I'm very confused on how I feel about this place. Rooms very clean although could do with an update. A hob with 2 rings although it took forever to work out how to use them ( make sure pan is on the ring first ). Nice big fridge freezer. TV consisting of channels 1,2,3,4 5 and film 4. Beds very comfortable as are the pillows. Nice bathroom although the loo roll holder drove me mad as the loo roll keep going back into the holder, Nice shower but please beware, the shower tray is extremely slippery with no slip mat. If an older person falls they will do themselves great injury as there's a full glass door. Also, pack a bath towel. We had 2 towels that were hand towels to dry with.. these were changed once ! Veranda 1 table 2 chairs to loungers. Loungers are plastic, very uncomfortable with no pads. Asked at reception for pads to be told they don't have them. Dont know where to buy them as reception didn't tell us. Lucky enough guest that are leaving seem to pass them on. The bungalows get EITHER morning or afternoon sun, who ever designed them needs to give their heads a wobble. You can go round the pool but we were forever moving our beds as the tree blocks out the sun. You can smoke on the Veranda but not round the pool or outside the resturant. There is a little space to smoke by the resturant but people hogged that area to eat. So if u smoke. It's on your Veranda...probably why you are sitting in the shade!!. A big ty to tracey ( bar staff) who was always polite,chatty and had a smile. On one occasion I went to the bar and when another member of staff came to serve me I pointed out the young man next to me was first to be told " he can wait, he's only the lifeguard" I felt so embarrassed I bought him a soda and he was so very grateful. He's a nice guy who looks bored rotten most of the time so please have a chat with him, I know he would appreciate it. We had a late flight so we could use shower facilities downstairs from reception. (Get towels from reception) once again, 1 hand towel to dry body and hair. Once again , shower tray extremely slippery and hand rail so lethal. No shower gel or nothing to use so dont pack your cos u will need it. Water came out brown so didn't bother washing hair. Best advice, get an early flight home. So would I go back?. Yes probably, these bungalows are very quiet with an older clientele and maybe we struck lucky as there were no screaming kids all week. There are constantly fully booked so there are doing something right. We also felt very safe here as bungalow are behind secured gates and there is a security guard.

Our first time staying here and it’s utterly charming and traditional (which we love) and with everything you need. The kitchenette is small but does have everything - electric hob, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer, pots n pans, kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery. Cupboard space is limited but there is a long sideboard. The beds are traditional wood-framed and extremely comfortable. Most rooms have twin beds which is very typical Spanish but can easily be pushed together. This seems to be a very popular establishment, with people returning year after year, and many booking up to 15 months in advance (so booking early is highly advised). The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, checking in was easy. Behind reception, there is a bar/cafe which serves drinks and food at very reasonable prices; a good breakfast and a coffee will set you back no more than £7. They also offer a take away service. There is also a self-service laundry with washer and dryer (€10.50 for washer, dryer and a laundry pod) which we took advantage of. It’s 5 mins walk to the resort centre and even less to the beach. For wheelchair users there is ramp access to most communal places, however most bungalows do have one small step to to get into them. If you’re hiring a mobility scooter then there is ample space to park it. All in all a delightful place to stay, with all the mod cons, but still retaining its Spanish charm and authenticity.

My husband and u have just returned from Castillo playa after a wonderful holiday there. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side but our little bungalow helped make it a great holiday. The staff, cleaners and pool bar staff are so friendly and make you feel like family. Our bungalow 501 was dated but perfect and spotless. We'll definitely be back.
