Son Matias Beach - Adults Only

My wife & myself have just returned from a week's stay at the Son Matias Beach Hotel. Prior to arriving, we had contacted the hotel & requested a quiet room on a high floor! Upon arrival at the hotel, some 2 hours before the normal check-in time, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was ready! Check-in was completed within a couple of minutes, and we were in our room on the ninth floor via a fast lift. Two key cards are provided for the room. We liked the idea of the hotel being cashless, & the facility to charge everything to your room via the key card! Our room overlooked the bay with its balcony facing towards the area of Magaluf, & much to our delight, being on the corner of the hotel, enjoyed the sun, when it was out, most of the day. The room was well appointed with comfortable beds, a walk-in shower, mini fridge, large flat screen TV with plenty of English speaking channels if required. The hotel provides complimentary tea & coffee making facilities in the room. There was a large bottle of water & 2 small bottles of milk in the fridge to get us started. There are lots of supermarkets, including an Aldi, near the hotel, for water, milk, wine & beer! Throughout our stay, the room was cleaned to a very high standard. We must congratulate the hotel on the quality & size of the towels provided. They were changed daily, & coupled with the complimentary shower & hair gel dispensers made for an easy life. The hotel restaurant and the variety of food, both at breakfast & dinner suited us. Throughout our stay, I think the longest that we waited to be seated was a couple of minutes! There was always something on offer that ticked our boxes. The food was cooked to a high standard, always hot, & plentiful! Without exception, the staff in the restaurant were efficient, friendly & always helpful. If there was one opportunity for improvement, it would be the provision of decaffeinated coffee at breakfast, & possibly added to the room tea & coffee making facilities. We did ascertain that it was available upon request for breakfast from the bar in the lounge. Evening entertainment was ok, with a range of different singers & styles throughout our stay. Having said that, we did enjoy a couple of evenings playing bingo, & the quiz night that was organised by Corina, the Hotel Entertainer. Her lack of English made the occasions all the more enjoyable for us. The pool area was clean, & there were ample sunbeds to meet the requirements of guests. Corina organised the mini-golf & darts competitions the best she could under the circumstances! The weather wasn't the best for a few days of our stay! That said, the friendliness of all the staff at the Son Matias provided a sunny outlook for us whatever the weather was like in Palma Nova. Would we return, you can bet on it!

This hotel is an excellent location on the beach , I found the meals in the restaurant were varied and of a good standard, the evening entertainment was terrific. The pool area was comfortable with cushions on all the sunbeds,the rooms were clean and comfortable as was the whole hotel. The only gripe I have was the pool area did not open till 09:30 .

Excellent hotel with lovey Friendly staff, spotless and food exceptional, found the 9.30 opening of the pool area a good idea it stops the stupid ritual of towels out at 6am. We could not find fault with anything, all the rooms have a good view and the beach is cleaned every day, also no rowdies because the police are always driving by.

Adult only hotel. friendly staff, great service and cleanliness, good food, catered for the British guest (happy with that). You need to pay to use the safe, there is a tourist tax to pay at the end of your stay. Minor complaints - couldn't get WiFi in room, walls are paper thin could hear every sound from next door. The restaurant next door plays music from 12 noon to late at night, don't expect a quiet day by the pool or evening if you retire to bed early. The location of the hotel is fantastic, every room looks out towards the sea and beach. This is my fourth visit to Majorca, we have stayed in different resorts I think Palma Nova is the best so far. Its great for about 4 days - we stayed a week which was too long for us You won't be disappointed

Can’t fault this hotel , I have difficulty walking and they swapped my room to a ground floor with out me even asking , spotless , food was bang on we had breakfast every day and there was something for everyone, we only had a meal once at the outdoor bar and that was the day we were leaving and wished we had used it more ! , always got a bed no matter what time we went down , jacuzzi was fab , clean towels and beds made daily , shampoo and shower gel supplied , beach towels also supplied , I did think we had to pay for WiFi but discovered the day we left it was free lol , all the desk staff were great and couldn’t do enough for you , we will definitely be coming back !

We have not visited Majorca for a long time, but we were pleasantly surprised how good THE SON MATIAS was ,its in a great location, right on the beach, the general appearance of the hotel was good, the entertainment was first class, the rooms were excellent a good size, a lovely balcony, The food for breakfast was superb, the service by all the staff was the best we've had in a long time.
