Bush Hotel

We stayed in the Bush Hotel in Carrick for my sister's hen party last weekend. I cannot overstate how helpful the hotel staff were in the lead up to the hen. It was quite a difficult time to organize a hen around Covid and restrictions but the staff were so accommodating any time I had to make any changes. On the day itself, every staff member we met from reception to the bar & restaurant and all in between were so friendly and welcoming, all of the girls were commenting on it. The hotel itself was immaculately clean and was so cosy and full of history. Perfectly located in the heart of Carrick-on-Shannon it really is the perfect place to stay and I will definitely be back

We attended a family funeral lunch on 10 Feb, about 40 people. The lunch was substantial and delicious, with a quick service that was second-to-none. So welcome also was the friendly attention of the staff. We were impressed with the sensitive restoration of this traditional hotel, set in a main street of character in a delightful town.

Went for lunch and was appalled by cleanliness of floor. Food on many parts of floor for at least 30 mins as I noticed it when entering. 4 meals sent back during the 45 mins we were there. 3 staff on duty but no organization or direction from anyone one and bar was full of empty glasses. Not busy so no excuse. Won't be going back.

Cant fault this hotel in any way, any business that has been this successful for over 220 years and has a published poem by a famous poet written about it, must have some experience in how to take care of their customers, the hotel has one of the most comprehensive websites, it offers so much in terms of services and value for money, book direct with the hotel for best prices on room and breakfast. also, the location of The Bush Hotel is a perfect base for touring some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland.

I've been coming to the Bush Hotel for many years at this stage. It changed owners last year so was concerned that standards might drop. On a visit earlier in the year it seemed that the hotel was, in common with the majority of the hospitality sector, struggling to get staff so there was a slight wobble in the service level in the restaurant. That had me go the the other large hotel in town for a couple of visits but I have to say that the rooms in that hotel were not as comfortable or suitable for working. The rooms in the Bush are spacious and well lit - the desk area has local lighting as well so it's very easy to get work done. Beds are very comfortable - the mattresses were brand new - and all beds have USB charging points next to them. The room had a, decent sized, Android smart TV which meant that I was able to cast to the TV from my tablet and phone (Netflix etc. are available on the TV if you want to sign in). Breakfast was very good with hot and continental options available. There are two EV changing points available in the hotel car park (I was originally told there was a - very reasonable - charge for these but on checkout I was told that they were free for guests - either way it represented excellent value) - a service that a surprisingly large number of hotels still fail to provide. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. All in all, I was very satisfied with the visit and will, most certainly, be returning.

We had our wedding party here and I cannot say enough for the wonderful staff and experience. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were excellent with our younger guests too. The food was brilliant and served in a very timely fashion. Everything was attended to promptly and very courteously and I’d like to extend another huge thank you to Laura and all the team for looking after us so well.

Went here for lunch. Delicious Oriental Chicken Curry and a great cappuccino. Lovely staff and well priced. Good location in the middle of town. Service was fast. Would visit again. Good food. Good setting.

This is the lowest review I’ve had to give but feel its fair to give this feedback to both the hotel & fellow travellers. We have been coming here the last few years for family occasions as we live locally & food, service & atmosphere was always 100% Visited on Sunday for another family occasion & we were all disappointed with the quality of the roast dinners, the slow service & atmosphere. It was very quiet yet the food was slow to arrive & was not great quality. The bar was full of empty glasses and the limited staff on we’re working hard as they could. Its very obvious the hotels priorities are with the refugee guests as they can be spotted around the place. We wont be back!

Definitely recommend the bush hotel,we didn’t stay here but ate here most days,staff are so friendly and food is amazing,being a fussy vegetarian they had a great menu to choose from and were very accommodating
