Laughing Bear Cabin is a historic piece of Mt. Hood, Oregon’s rusticbeauty. The Steiner family, who also helped to build Timberline Lodgein Oregon, built the cabin in 1930. Located under old an growth canopy,next to Zig Zag River and Still Creek, in Rhododendron on 1/4 acres ofprivate land, at the 1,500-foot elevation. We now have wifi. This is a non-smokingfacility. Ashtrays are provided outside on the covered back deck. Some pets are negotiable and require an additional fee.WE ARE PET FRIENDLY WITH A $100 FEE. While we have added modern touches throughout, the interior of the cabin boasts original hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets & counters. It offers 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, PLUS a detached 3rd bedroom in the backyard steps away from the main cabin. WiFi speed of 349+ mbps also makes this a great place from which to work remotely. The living area has a cozy gas fireplace for winter snuggling, and small dining area with seating for 6. Relax while reading a book, watching a movie, or playing a board game the whole family will enjoy. Downstairs living/dining area does not have window coverings.The original 1930 kitchen cabinets and counters are complimented with a modern refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven, and dishwasher. This fully appointed kitchen is equipped to prepare whatever meals you decide to create. There is also a small 2-person breakfast bar in the kitchen. Bathroom has heated tile floors, one small vintage sink that is original from 1930, and full-size tub/shower combo with a detachable shower head that we find very helpful when bathing the kids. While the bottom pane of the bathroom window is frosted, there is no window covering on the top half of the bathroom window that looks out to the private, forested backyard. Master Bedroom: This room occupies the entire attic.Guests must be able to comfortably climb and descend a flight of stairs to access this bedroom. *This staircase and railing are not safe for young children.*There is no door that closes this attic bedroom off from the downstairs of the house.Queen bed with memory foam mattress at one end of the room.The other end of the room has a small sitting area with a TV and fold out twin-sized mattress.There is also WiFi throughout the master bedroom.2nd Bedroom (Kids’ Bedroom):Downstairs Twin over twin bunkbed with memory foam mattresses (please no adults on the top bunk)No TV provided in bedroom. Our living room is the perfect relaxation and entertainment hub, featuring a 60-inch smart TV and a vintage turntable and receiver (with Bluetooth capability) with a stash of great records (bring your own if you want!). Upstairs, you’ll find the main bedroom with a queen bed, reading nook, balcony access and a desk for the work-from-home crowd. There is also a quaint bathroom and a bunkroom that features a single and full bed. Downstairs, there is plenty of space to hang your outdoor recreation gear to dry in the hallway, and you’ll find the third bedroom with a queen bed and nearby bathroom with shower. It is located in the Timberline Rim community, a neighborhood of homes primarily occupied by full-time residents and some nightly rentals. There are neighbors to each side of the cabin, with a street-facing front. There’s not a great deal of traffic, but traffic is audible at times. Our home offers ample free parking and a convenient horseshoe driveway for easy access, in and out.Other things to noteCentrally located in the Mount Hood Corridor, we are in close proximity to a wide variety of area outdoor attractions, and our home is a great place to relax after a day of activities and exploring. There are ample options for groceries and food in the area, including stores in Rhododendron, Brightwood and nearby Sandy.
