The hotel was very clean & the bed was super comfy! Check in was easy & they let us check in early which was very helpful. The door man at the bottom of the elevator seemed a little judge mental. We just wanted to go to the bar after attending the baseball game but he treated us like we weren't guests of the hotel, that was a little off putting but the bartender was wonderful!

We came here for a wedding. The venue is around the corner from the Godfrey Hotel. I would not come back to this hotel. The staffs are rude and services were terrible. The room was clean but they were under staff. Housekeeping skipped my room one day during my stay. When I called to have my room clean, the front desk told me that they are short staff, they would not be able to clean my room and refresh the towels. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant. I would be be off at Home2suite across the street.

Is it a budget hotel trying to be luxurious? Is it a bottom-tier luxury hotel? The Pros: - Very warm and friendly valet and housekeeping staff - Plenty of hangars in the closet - It is a clean hotel The Cons: - Lumpy bed - NO breakfast service, not even coffee in the lobby in the mornings (and only two of those godawful Keurig servings in the room and only powdered “cream”) - One, low, armless and uncomfortable club chair in the room - In the lounge/restaurant at happy hour (5pm), ALL of the tables in the vast space had RESERVED tags on them except for the half-dozen seats at the bar - all of which were occupied when I was there for a drink - Small lobby with bench seating only, again very low to the ground - No info about hotel amenities in the room (maybe because there aren’t any?) - Front-desk staff seemed unwilling or uncomfortable engaging with guests: terse, incomplete responses to questions and a lack of eye-contact I’ve come to the conclusion that the Godfrey is a “major city” version of a Motel 6: you get a bed, towels, and hot water, but that’s it. So it IS a budget hotel trying to be luxurious. The problem is that there are hotels with more amenities in the immediate area that are only a few bucks more per night. Shop around! P.S. to management. - Please retrain your front-desk staff. - Please consider a simple continental breakfast with fresh coffee/tea and a buffet of fruit and prepackaged breads/pastries and yogurts. At the very least, provide coffee service in the lobby in the mornings so that we don’t have to schlep around River North for it. - Please provide info about hotel services in the room and on the Web site. - Please invest in new mattresses.

They have bedbugs the Valet destroyed my car and they didn’t help to fix it. I would pay any amount of money to not stay at this hotel ever again. You would actually have to pay me to come back to this place. Avoid this place at all cost. I wish I had spent a little more and stayed somewhere different

I would spend my money elsewhere. Yes, this hotel is in a nice location, and yes, the rooms were nice. That's about it. I was quoted a price for a room that INCLUDED taxes and fees. The customer service representative confirmed twice with me that the rate included taxes and fees, and then we checked out, and taxes and fees were added to what we were told was the total charge. The manager tired of looking into it I guess after one attempt, because she wouldn't listen to my second call with customer service to rectify the issue. Also, the "rooftop" bar on the 4th floor allows DJs to play blaring music until all hours of the night. There was a wedding the weekend we were there, and we called the front desk who said there was nothing they could do and the music would stop by 3. So, in a hotel, where you go to rest, we were just told to deal with it and I guess not sleep. This is a HOTEL that happens to have a bar. It is not a bar, and I would expect better consideration for guests who are good money to stay here. My room should not have had the windows shaking from the music. Also, we asked to speak to a manager and were told there would be no manager until Monday. What hotel has no manager on duty on the weekends when most people are staying? They did give us half off our room for the night, but it would be better if they would require private events to end at a more reasonable hour considering they are a hotel or tell DJs they have to turn the music down at a certain point. Finally, when housekeeping came by, we were getting ready to leave for the day. We asked them to come back around 12:30 to make up the room, and they wrote it down and never came back. We got some fresh towels, but the garbage was left and the beds were not refreshed. I can get better service and a better experience for a much better price at another hotel, which I will do next time.

Hotel is in a great location. Room was on the small side, but clean and well appointed. Staff was nice, though some weren’t very knowledgeable of the area when we asked a few questions. Biggest gripe is that two waters were given to us at the check-in desk that later showed up on our bill as charges, and the “free” WiFi was not free either. Those things marred an otherwise nice stay.

I have no idea how TF this place has the nerve to advertise as 4 star. First impression walking in: The lobby floors are dirty. The front counter guy was about as welcoming as a doormat. The rooftop lounge I was looking forward to will not be available on Saturday due to a private event...So fawk you paying customer this amenity is not available. To add insult to injury I had to lay here in bed tossing and turning because that private event keeping me from going to the lounge is keeping me up with loud fawkin music. Yes you can hear the music from the lounge in your room on the 13th fawkin floor. Parking is about 60 bucks a night and I still have two more nights here. it's currently 5:32 am and I haven't slept because the combination of crap pillows , loud music and the trash in the room next to me are having a fawkin full blown domestic right now. Never again, Godfrey. The only positive thing about this place was the waygu beef sliders a d the service from the bartender, Trigger.

I stayed at the Godfrey Hotel in Chicago this weekend, and I had a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles, which made me feel right at home. Hugo at the front desk was especially helpful—he made check-in smooth and took the time to share all the details about the hotel and nearby spots. The rooftop lounge is a definite highlight. The atmosphere was fun and lively, with a great mix of energy and relaxation. The food and drinks were also really good, and the overall vibe made it a memorable part of my stay. The decor throughout the hotel is modern and stylish, which added to the overall experience. My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed to feel at home. The attention to detail—from the service to the design—really stood out and made a big difference. Overall, my stay was amazing. If you’re visiting Chicago and looking for great service, a beautiful environment, and a cool atmosphere, I highly recommend the Godfrey. I’ll definitely be back!

This is a decent, no-frills option in the heart of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, more akin to an apartment than a full-service hotel. Rooms are fairly basic but get the job done. Front desk service isn’t terribly helpful. One flag is that WiFi is poor (it went in and out, mostly out) and was a challenge for my 4-day stay, so beware if traveling for business. I made several calls to the front desk regarding the WiFi and received no follow-up. Two days in they switched me to a different room, which was nice, but didn’t offer to facilitate the move. The WiFi was slightly improved but still not ideal for the rest of the stay. There was never any checking in on the issue afterwards. Ultimately there are better options in the heart of Chicago but in a pinch, and if internet isn’t important, the Godfrey is sufficient if unremarkable.

Good rooms but on a smaller side, some things are not throught through, especially for the family of 4 ( layout, bathroom is in the bedroomand if 4 ppl in the room, they all walk through your bedroom, also some of the switches r in weird places) but overall clean rooms and good housekeeping services, attentive front desk.. BUT hotel doesn't have looding/ unloading area and , as per recommendations of the hotel, we booked spothero.. we have disability sticker (we don't need wheelchair but have issues with health and hands movement) and I had to explain all of that and asked to unload at the front of the hotel... valley guy ( the one who didn't let us stop at the first place) ran after me saying that time is limited to unload ... again, everything else is pretty good but we r from nyc and even there all hotels have loading / unloading areas as how do you expect people bringing all their belongings up... also bell man would be a nice touch..

I was thoroughly pleased with my 5 star stay at the Godfrey. I left extremely impressed with their amazing staff st the desk on all shifts. I must admit, my 5 star experience started before I got their through my phone conversations with Miss Makayla as she used her experience, knowledge, and expertise to settle some issues for me leaving me with peace pertaining to the upcoming trip. Miss Lauren's kindness, knowledge and smile was the cherry on top!!! The housekeeping staff was very, very, good as well, and my room was clean and fesh daily. Worth every penny. I'll definitely be back.

There are hidden fees that were not explained at check-in or check out. I was simply charged 71 dollars that I was totally unaware of. I was still in the hotel and went to the front desk to understand what I had done wrong in the room to be charged this out of nowhere. I specifically remember being told at check in that the credit card on file would only be used for incidentals and that I had paid everything in full already. Well, they then told me (after being charged) that there was a 23 dollar a day fee?? For amenities?? By the way, they consider a "nonsmoking room" an amenity. It is not about the price, it is about the sneaky way I was not told about the fee. I was able to notice it only because I receive text messages for all credit card charges. Other than this, the hotel is just OK. I feel it was way more expensive than what it is worth. The furniture in the lobby was broken and needs to be replaced. The room also had some odd things on the ceiling and other worn out areas not comparable to the price charged per room. The "rooftop" bar is basically the 4th floor and the view is of powerlines. On the weekends, apparently, even if you are a guest at the hotel, you have to go downstairs to check in to go up to the bar. This was also not well explained, and I felt more like an outsider trying to get in to a club which was not welcoming for a hotel guest. The man checking in was also not friendly even after explaining we were staying at the hotel. Please reconsider another option for your stay in lovely Chicago.
