We arrived in Durham late afternoon after driving for hours from the Lakes district via Hadrian's wall in Hexham. We were greeted by the host William. After check-in we asked William for directions to Durham Cathedral. Unfortunately we got lost and couldn't get there. We got back to the B&B very tired and disappointed as we only had the date of arrival to visit the Cathedral. We were tired and told William that we will just rest up for our trip up north the next day. William wouldn't hear of it and offered to drive us to the Cathedral and even wait for us while we toured the Cathedral. We were embarrassed and did not want to trouble him but he insisted and took us in his car, acting as a tour guide he drove past many attractions and got us to the Cathedral. Once I knew the way, I asked if we could return to the B&B so I could drive us in our own car to the Cathedral and spend the evening around there. He recommended a few restaurants as we drove past them and took us back. We managed to drive back and attend evening song and then spent a lovely evening walking around. If it weren't for William, we would have just spent the evening in our room feeling sorry for our selves. Our room was at the top floor. As I was parking the car, my wife took a small suitcase in. An elderly woman insisted on carrying the bag upstairs and no matter how many times my wife tried, she insisted on taking it up. Breakfast was great. Although only street parking is available, William assured us that the area was safe and he was right. This is a family run B&B and William and his family could not be more hospitable, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Moor End Guest House.

This is a great value hotel. You pop across the car to spend what you want on breakfast in the health club. Ok some complained £2 for 2 Weatabix steep but you can have avocado and poached egg on toast very reasonable. The rooms are fine, nothing wrong with any that we had, premium or standard. All clean. The service was great, friendly and helpful. Having to keep having the key cards reprogrammed is a pain but we just did it every time we came in. Location is a bit out but that makes it quiet and there is a Sainsbury’s, pharmacy and Copland just 10 mins walk away.

J'ai réservé la suite Coleman et c'était hors de question, mais les chambres de base parmi mes amis semblait trop cher. Le petit déjeuner est très bon, mais il est très bon, et il est très bon, et il est très bon. Si vous avez des besoins alimentaires, vous devrez parler. J'ai simplement été demandé à quel moment j'aimerais petit déjeuner. Il n'y avait pas de mention des options, des besoins vegans, etc. J'ai simplement fini mon toast et des céréales et un glorieux anglais plein a été posé devant moi. La seule exigence alimentaire est de « portions généreuses », donc cette approche a fonctionné parfaitement pour moi, mais elle ne va pas à tout le monde. Le gentleman qui serve le petit déjeuner était un homme de quelques mots. Pas rude ou stand-off, juste réservé. Si vous détestez les gens du matin et les petits discours dans la même mesure que moi, vous le aimerez. Et comme pour la nuit précédente, ne vous inquiétez pas de vous éloigner du centre-ville. Il y a un restaurant Sainsburys et vietnamien à une distance de marche facile, donc vous ne mourrez pas. Le prix de la chaussure est de 43 £. 40-50 £ plus cher que les alternatives centrales dans une ville qui semble être Kensington.

Spacious room, nice kitchenette and basic accommodation. The room was a little tired and smelled a bit musty, but very clean and I slept well. Check-in was straight forward enough at the bar and very nice bar staff member. Several buses can be caught very nearby and it’s around 10 minutes into town (£2 single or £4 day pass). I would stay again :)

Just back from honeymoon so now time to thank all those that made our special day so perfect, we stayed at 61 Durham for 2 nights and it was perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the morning after our wedding. We’d had a couple of meetings with Rachel and Fabio before the big day to prepare our own menu and wine list and nothing was too much trouble for them, even on the morning of the wedding when the power in the hotel went out everything was calm and collected. Our Celebration meal was superb and everyone commented on how good the food was - Fabio, you were right your risotto was perfect 👍👍. We had 25 family members join us and from the restaurant which was set up exactly how we wanted it was such a great venue for our day with the grounds for our photos and the Garden Room to chill out in after our food. An extra special thanks to Rachel for putting up with us during the initial meetings but a huge thank you to her and the team for making our day a very special one indeed. Would recommend the venue to anyone looking for a laid back intimate day with family at a very reasonable price. Will be back for Sunday lunch soon 🙏👍

Amber is the loveliest person I have ever met. She made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond for us all night. We stayed here previously and had issues with our hot tub but Amber made our stay this time round absolutely perfect! I can't thank both her and Dan enough for making our stay so perfect this time round :)

Les chambres sont spacieuses et très propres. Le bar est fab et un grand espace pour se détendre. Seul une suggestion mineure est de donner au personnel du bar un peu de formation professionnelle à la barista - c'est un point de plus pour l'hôtel d'avoir un bon bar.

hôtel à une position parfaite pour marcher à Durham. Près des boutiques de ville, cathédrale, château et à 15 minutes à pied de la gare. Chambres fines, petit déjeuner vraiment bon, le seul laissez descendre apporter la douche pauvre. Il n'est pas conçu pour une personne de six pieds et vraiment le seul qui est laissée en dessous.

1 nuit de séjour dans le penthouse pour un week-end lumineux avec des amis. Gillian était merveilleux et vraiment utile, Ballons et une carte de naissance ont été livrés dans la chambre comme c'était mon anniversaire, vraiment beau et apprécié. Gillian s'est éloigné de sa façon de nous rendre accueillis et nous a expliqué tout à notre arrivée, nous a même entraînés dans notre chambre tôt. Le bar est très bon, ils ont un schéma de cartes de cachet, pour les résidents ils achètent 3 pour 1 gratuit. La musique en direct le vendredi soir, bien que le chanteur n'ait malheureusement pas pu assister à cause de problèmes de stationnement avec l'événement lumineux. Pas de petit déjeuner, mais beaucoup d'options à proximité, nous avons fait des chapitres pour le petit déjeuner qui est à quelques minutes à pied du pont (délicieux) la chambre était plus comme un petit appartement avec une petite cuisine avec cuisson/chauffe-eau et réfrigérateur. Le salon est situé dans une salle de bains avec douche sur la baignoire, c'est énorme, nous attendions seulement une chambre. Le prix est fantastique et vous n'hésiterez pas à réserver !
