Very poor check-in experience. I had reserved the room on a credit card. At the time of check-in I requested them to charge for the room on my corporate debit card. And I told Laudy at check-in that I will give another card for deposit/incidentals. It’s very standard, and I have been doing this seamlessly at all hotels globally for the past 3 years. However here I was charged twice on my debit card - one amount apparently as a hold (this was greater than the room tariff) PLUS the entire room tariff as a separate charge. Additionally, I had to pay a further amount as deposit for incidentals! They could not explain the reason except to say that the software is like this - that it’s not the standard Marriott system. @Marriott Hotels - why do you have this brand in your portfolio if you can’t provide consistency of experience?? Anyway, the room is good, clean and practical. The reception area is large and spacious but not very clean. People - While Laudy at check-in and the duty manager were polite, they didn’t have a clue why this happened, The lady from Accounting - Jenny was helpful, understood what had happened and hopefully will help sort this.
