We absolutely loved our stay in Dewey Beach and the Bay Resort was perfect for us. It's a solid, clean and friendly little resort, which makes us for what "frills" it might lack by a wonderful location. The location - and price - is really the key selling point. You're right on the bay, with a very small beach and a long pier stretching out into the water. There is a friendly kayak / SUP rental place here too, and enough space for our younger kids to run around and play (plus there is a public playground a few minutes walk). There is also a nice pool - it's bigger than we expected and never got too crowded for our stay (mid week). Rooms were clean and comfortable, if dated, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The bay rooms have balconies overlooking the bay - a view that based on the houses nearby must literally be a million dollar view. It's just really nice to sit out - they're also in the shade during the morning and maybe early pm depending on the time of year. It was a little noisy out there in the evenings when there was music from the nearby venue, but we didn't hear that inside the rooms at all. Because the barrier island is so narrow at this point, even being on the bay, it's a 6 minute walk to the sea beach - which is beautiful, with lifeguards and even a roving Italian ice seller. No boardwalk, but there is one up in Rehoboth, about a mile north. The main road is the halfway point between Bay and Beach and has plenty of restaurants to choose from, plus live music venues and bars. Between walking and the Jolly Trolley to Rehoboth, we hardly used our car at all - it was really nice to be able to just potter around and enjoy this beach community. We'll be back - highly recommended. Just don't expect a luxury resort: this is a friendly and clean place, in good repair but perhaps a little dated. Everyone - guests and staff - were very friendly, plenty of kids but not overrun. If you want a good quality motel type experience in a perfect location, this is for you.
