Mercure Hotel Erfurt Altstadt

Located in the city center. Great location but it's a pity, No AC.

Centrally located hotel a few steps away from old town. The room we had (134) was large and contained a safe, a Nspresso machine and a fridge with complementary soft drinks and beer. Also had dressing gown and slippers. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom had large shower. Everything clean. Room looked out onto garden in back and was very quiet. Reception staff approachable and helpful. Only negatives were that the room did not have air conditioning albeitvhad a fan. The price of breakfast (€21 each) seemed expensive- we didn’t have it so can’t comment on the quality. Would recommend visiting old town Erfurt and if did so again would have no hesitation in staying in this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. A well-located modern hotel, but no air-conditioning for bedrooms under the roof. OK, it was 30 degrees outside, but there was no point opening the windows - just couldn't get rid of the heat in the room.. Comfy bed and good sleep (on top of the covers!). Best breakfast I've ever had at a Mercure/Ibis. Staff very welcoming too.

Visiting Erfurt for the day we booked a room at the Mercure for the night. Parking is in a garage on site, for 24 euro/ day. Our room was supposed to be air conditioned, but it wasn't. Our room was overlooking the street and our windows opened, so that helped, but there was a lot of street noise! The bed was pretty comfortable, but the pillows weren't that great! Nice shower with good water pressure and temperature! Good location!

This hotel is really nice located just near the town center. Rooms are standard for a Mercure. Just two points to be aware of. This hotel is not with air conditioning and the parking places are not enough, just to bad, Breakfast buffet is nice and rooms are soundproof and therefore the hotel is quiet.

In die Jahre gekommen, aber tolle Lage und sauber! Bäder sind neu, Matratzen sehr gut, Möbel im Zimmer aber teilweise kaputt, Teppich in den Fluren sehr wellig - hier muss nach und nach renoviert werden! Sehr hellhörig! Auf den Gängen hört man alles. Aber für einen Städtetrip kann man es gut buchen!
