Sina Villa Medici, Autograph Collection

We came to Harry’s bar for lunch and a Negroni! The Negroni was fabulous the burger and the sandwich were terrible truly terrible .. the sandwich was what you would get at a road side gas station and my sons burger was boring and dry .. having said all that come here for the cocktails- my negroni was sensational!

The hotel had a lovely welcome and the staff were very kind. Unfortunately the hotel is very dated and doesn’t have a very good smell. The hotel has a lot of Potential but it just doesn’t seem to be updated. If you stay here, have the expectation of staying at a 2/3 star, not a 4.

The location smelled a bit of sewage which was disappointing. The stay was average overall and the property while clean is in need of updating to keep in line with other standards set by Bonvoy Autograph properties. Pretty basic stay when compared to the other Autograph's stays on this trip.

We chose this hotel in part because of its close proximity to the train station, as we had day trips planned. It worked very well for that purpose, but was also a perfect choice for its comfort. It had the charms of an older hotel (see photo of room key), but updated to today's standards. Our room was large and nicely furnished, with a balcony that overlooked the pool. The bath had large counter space with two sinks. The staff were all super welcoming, friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast was incredible with great choices that included an assortment of gluten-free options. We would stay here again without considering other options.

We were pretty disappointed with our stay at this 5star hotel. The location is 20 minute walk from city center so if you want something closer this is not it. There are a lot of small shops , cafes, bakeries along the walk. The hotel itself is outdated. The bed was uncomfortable and the towel warmers didn’t work in any of the rooms we had. When we arrived after an overnight flight we had to wait for our room. Once we were in our room and tried to take a nap before further exploring they were doing construction on our floor and there was banging and drilling. They should have blocked off that area and not put people in those rooms. The positive in all this is that the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The manager Andrea changed our room to a higher floor for the next night. The staff in the restaurant for breakfast were very pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast itself was disappointing however with few choices.

I was nervous to stay here after reading a lot of negative reviews, and I'm so glad I ignored them. This hotel was beautiful, and the service was top notch. We loved their lobby bar - we had apertivo there more than once and it was so lovely. Our room was beautiful and spacious with a gorgeous balcony overlooking their pool area. Location was a pleasant 10-ish min walk to the main downtown area, and about the same to the other side of the Arno where most of the less tourist-trappy restaurants and bars were. There were honestly a great deal of restaurants in the neighborhood the hotel was in also and some great cafes for coffee and pastries in the morning. It's super simple to get a taxi from the hotel, and the front desk can call it for you very easily and quickly - we appreciated that help so much! My only "complaints" about my room, which really boil down to personal preference, were that the TV wasn't a smart tv, so we couldn't log into any apps and watch things we wanted to. Most of the channels are all italian - SO not important though as we spent a vast majority of our time NOT inside the room. So that was no big deal. I also found the mattress to be incredibly firm - way too firm for me and it was hard to sleep without aching. Again, that was a me-thing I'm sure. **the one last room-related complaint I have, I noticed at the hotel we stayed in Rome too, which also was a Sina property, is that theres nowhere in the shower to put your toiletries? Maybe this is an Italy thing .. or just a Sina property thing... but we had to put all of our toiletries on the floor of the shower which grosses me out/just is inconvenient to have to keep bending over onto the floor the entire duration of your shower. I feel it's important to note this as some folks perhaps can't continuously bend over like that as it's not physically possible, so just an important piece to note. (would really benefit if they added a couple of ledges in the shower for people to place things) other than my few tiny complains about the room, I honestly would stay there again - especially if i were to visit florence in the summer time as they have such a lovely pool area!
