The Safe Harbour Hotel

Stayed her for two nights on business. Don’t do breakfast until after 8.30, too late for me. Didn’t do food in the evening on Tuesdays - the night I stayed. Tiny car park was full and couldn’t park. Room not as nice as the photos, up bird poo stained outside metal staircase at the end of the car park to get to your room. Bright green exit light kept the room lit up all night. Unfriendly welcome in the bar when I arrived from locals - not the staff. Good points - great spot to explore Fowey, good tea/coffee facilities.

We had a great couple of days here in the summer. Our room had an extraordinary view over the rooftops of the town to the river. You could watch the ships arriving and departing, some of them surprisingly big as this is still a working harbour. Bedroom was comfortable and very clean. The rooms are above the pub, but we had no problems with noise at all, and the pub is great. Everything in Fowey is within easy walking distance. Best of all: you can open the bedroom window, fully! Such a refreshing change from so many UK hotels that only let you get a centimetre of fresh air. Breakfast was fine. The hill back up to the hotel from the centre of town is very steep, so this might be a problem for some. Overall, highly recommended.

Good location. Lovely, friendly staff. Disappointing hotel. Bedroom pleasant but the bathroom wasn’t clean with awkward access from carpark which was not a pretty sight. Breakfast was reminiscent of the 70’s. Old fashioned hotel in need of an update.

This is a great place to stay while you're exploring Fowey. The location is unbeatable; just a short walk down past the beautiful church to the main street and harbour. Our rooms were comfortable with spotlessly clean bathrooms, and the breakfast is plentiful and freshly prepared.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Safe Harbour Hotel in Fowey! The room was beautiful, very comfortable bed and the people were efficient and welcoming! The Full Cornish Breakfast was wonderful! Great pub, too. 3 minutes walk into town. Fowey is certainly well worth a visit! Beautiful little town and fabulous walks along the cliffs!

Remember your Grandmother’s bathroom fixtures? If you’d like to revisit, this is the place. The sink, shower and toilet were circa 1969, as was the carpet and flooring. Basically clean, if you ignore the many carpet stains. Expected to love this place from the reviews, did not. After a long journey, we’d expected to eat at the hotel but the cleanliness of the bar changed our minds. On the whole it felt like the staff had better things to do than to help guests. I asked about buses to the train station and the receptionist said, “well go look on the sign at the bus stop.” When our room was boiling hot, I asked if I could get a fan and the receptionist said, “No, we don’t have those for guests, it will cool down eventually.’ All in all I don’t know why this hotel is rated so highly; made me wonder who was writing the reviews. Fowey is great and we look forward to future trips; when we stay elsewhere.
