The Woodquay Hostel

I had the most upsetting experience with a man called Kenneth. I had intended to stay here and had originally spoken to a lovely woman who told me I could book through the websight and if I had any problems to get back to her. I did. Someone else emailed me back and was no help to me. I had asked him about availability for a later date in may. He stated he had no availability for ' tonight' I emailed him back stating that it was for the later date in may I needed it not 'tonight' he then said as I have already told you we have no rooms available on the dates you needed. He seemed very put out and unhelpful even though the previous lady has told me to call if I had any issues whatsoever. I explained to him that that was not what he had said originally that I didn't want to stay tonight but later in may. .... And if he was going to be rude I would find somewhere else to stay. He wrote back no problem. I could not get over the unhelpfulness and the unprofessional and unclear manner in which he spoke to me. I would understand if his first email stated that they were fully booked for my selected dates but he was so unclear and unhelpful and rude. That man really needs to learn to be nicer to folks. I was so disappointed as it looked like a really nice place. And I was looking forward to it.

typical backpacker dorm that convenient location . Staff very nice and friendly, luggage room also big enough with 24hours counter. Breakfast also very nice. public area so comfortable but if full may a bit crowded and noisy. however, good for staying if visit Galway

I slept in seven bed women room. It was bathroom incide,but when it is 7 girls hard to get in. There are a lot of bathrooms and toilets also outside the rooms. There are a lot of People,and shared toilets not always are clean. Here are soap in some shared bathrooms. Good localisation. Also they have kitchen, breakfast included,but if you are late - you have nothing to eat. Free tea and coffe,and lemon water. A lot of spot to Cook something here

Keep in mind that the building is old, but for a youth hostel it was confortable enough. That being said the place was clean (smelled like Javex), the bed were comfortable. Our sheet had a stain and we asked for cleaner ones, without hesitation they led us to the laundry room and gave us cleaner ones. The general state of the room is ok, yes floors are bit dirty and the bathrooms could use an everyday cleaning but it’s not bad. The kitchen is equipped and clean. As for the location of the hostel, it’s central and near everything. Parking available in front which is nice (max 2h for 4euros). People were nice, would recommend.

Friendly hostel, great breakfast, cosy common room. Bedrooms comfortable and clean. Well-equipped kitchen. Wide variety of travellers staying, both young and old. We had a family room for 5 with an ensuite shower room.
