This lodge, Cawdor number 5, is arguably the most serene and peaceful place we have ever stayed. If you are younger& are a party animal, then it's not for you -but nor is sleepy Balmaha. But for a couple of retired people with an adult son, it was delightful. It was a tranquil haven to return to at the end of a touring day. It is superbly equipped with good quality furniture and extremely comfortable king sized beds. The ever changing views over the Loch are lovely to wake up to and enjoy over a glass of something in the evening. It's fun to spot the wildlife too - we saw deer, herons, rabbits and of course the resident duck family. It is an expensive place to stay, but it is also value for money. My only small complaint is the cafetière in the kitchen could be larger! We had a small one cup one, together with a Nespresso machine with a few pods. But a larger filter machine would be better for 3-4 adults. We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at the Lodge, and the sun shone for us almost every day. For a peaceful and relaxing break, it is an ideal spot to chose.
