I don’t think I’ve stayed in a more thoughtful place. This was hotel #18 in 21 days of travel and we weren’t in the best frame of mind when we arrived. So many B&Bs and hotels do what’s best for them instead of the guest, but Glencoe House was 100% about the guests. We stayed in the lodges. Tired from driving all day in the rain, we weren’t looking forward to finding a restaurant, and I was sure that whatever food they left in the fridge (per their website) would be minimal. So very wrong. What a feast we had. And I was shocked to learn it was all included in the rate. (Not that it was cheap - we paid about $700 per night - I think the most we’ve ever spent on a hotel.) There were many choices of very delicious frozen meals, side dishes, garlic bread, desserts, cheese. Also a complimentary half bottle of nice champagne. Also breakfast foods - cereals, milk, bread, yogurt, juice, plus fresh foods to cook, including eggs, vegetables, several kinds of meat/sausages. For reasonable fees they also had a wide choice of drinks and mixers, a great selection of bottles of wine, and a selection of scotches. Beyond the food and drinks, they had prepped a fire in the wood burning stove and the hot tub on the deck was heated and ready. All equipment - kitchen cooker, bathroom fixtures etc were top notch, even the hair dryer was a Dyson. There were candles and a champagne bucket on the side of the tub. Great super king bed and linens. Full and half baths. I could go on. Everything was super intuitive and easy to use. If the owners truly want to go above and beyond, they might consider adding a reading chair to the living room, as the low velour couch was a challenge for my husband.
