Premier Inn Dumbarton/Loch Lomond

The hotel itself was well up to the usual Premier Inn standards despite some renovation work, but the evening meal at the adjoining restaurant was poor both for quality and service. I stay there most years and it has always been OK in the past, but not so this year. The menu choices appeared designed for white van man and children and not touring couples, with no fish (e.g. salmon) or pies on offer. We ordered the chicken burgers but were served steak burgers and sent them back. Despite the restaurant not being busy it took 30-40 minutes for the chicken burgers to come, and the meal was dry and not particularly tasty. Apart from one woman the service was poor and one waitress (tall, young) seemed to be doing her best to avoid customers' attention. In fairness the breakfast next morning was fine, both food and service.

The young lady on check in was welcoming. The bed was comfortable & the room was quiet. There was plenty of parking. Sadly, we didnt enjoy our stay this time & checked out a day early. When we first entered our room, the toilet hadn't been cleaned. Evening meal next door was very disappointing. The menu has been drastically streamlined from our previous visit. No more room service & not a lot to choose from, food or bar drinks. The pasta was very undercooked with hot & cold spots from being microwaved. The curry had 5 small pieces of chicken & a stale poppadom. We did voice our complaints but declined a discount in the restaurant. Hopefully feedback will be listened to & of use.

What a shame Premier Inn has ignored the restaurant at this location. The evening meal menu is a joke. Most cafés offer more choice. Pizza and Burgers about sums it up. Surely, a roast on Sundays and a bit more choice. I witnessed guests of the hotel look at the menu and was turning it over for more choice. Really good hotel for location and staff. Rubbish restaurant for evening meals. In fact, appalling.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 separate nights in April / May as a stop off whilst travelling further north and back. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming and, as we have come to expect from Premier Inn, our room was clean and comfortable. However the restaurant is very tired looking and despite the waitresses appearing to work very hard, the service was very slow. Having stayed here before, the restaurant has definitely gone downhill since no longer being a Brewers Fayre pub.

We were passing on our way North. Mistakenly thought this would be quite a quick option, as the service on previous visits had been quite good. Unfortunately this was not to be the case. After waiting about 20 minutes for our drink order we went up to the bar to see what the problem was. The girl apologizes said she had our order, then a few minutes later came over to ask what it was. By the time we got our drinks we had been there over 30 minutes. She said she had checked with the kitchen when we chased the drinks order when our food would be ready and they had said 5 minutes so it would be there soon. We waited another 10 minutes before going to them and told them to cancel the order. 40 minutes is too long to wait for what I am sure is only coming from a pre made heat up warehouse company. They were not very busy as far as we could see.

Hotel was ok, nice staff and in general the room was fine apart from the hospitality tray which was virtually none existent. There is no bar so can’t have a drink until the eating/drinking area next door opens at 5-30 ( didn’t open on time and we were stood in the rain with several other people). This is the Premier Inn restaurant!! The service was very slow because they just didn’t have enough staff so not their fault really. I would not stay here again.
