We arrived 14 August to a very warm welcome from owners Sharon and Andy. We settled into the Red Squirrel Suite which was immaculate. Decor is bright and fresh with lovely artwork and soft furnishings from local Scottish artists. Full tea and coffee making facilities with freshly ground coffee and home made biscuits all beautifully presented in our private lounge area. first impressions …. I just felt that this cozy spot in Grantown on Spey was something special … We were shown to the original School Room where we were welcomed with a complimentary dram of whisky… the original school features have been tastefully restored. We thoroughly enjoyed our private dining experience evening meal which was prepared using locally supplied produce .. Haggis Bon Bons with fresh radish and then The tastiest lamb casserole ever!! Our Scottish Breakfast the following morning was outstanding, with Sharon’s home made Granola , fruit and yoghurt, scones, freshly squeezed raspberry juice.. she really goes that extra mile to ensure that everything is freshly prepared and bursting with flavours.. simply put … we were made to feel that we had been welcomed into an old friends home and nothing was too much trouble for them. Great tips and recommendations for whisky tasting and trails with Alba Whisky Tours, and advice on where to buy gifts and potter around antique shops in the local area. We will definitely be returning to Dava school house with friends and family that we know will also love it! Sharon and Andy are a very rare find in Scotland.. to be honest I don’t want too many people finding out about this little gem of a place as it will always be full !!
