Had a very mixed experience here, but I would still highly recommend this place!
What made our stay not fully positive was the fact that our room's bathroom was completely infested with flying ants. They were coming out of the faucet, drain, the walls, they were everywhere. When we explained this to the front desk they immediately apologized and had someone try to spray in it to remove the bugs, but that simply wasn't possible, and when more bugs appeared, we complained again. Then we were moved to the room below... Again, the bathroom was completely infested with bugs. This time they moved us to a different building : finally clean, and an upgrade to the suite. We really wish we didn't need to deal with this, as it was frustrating to keep moving our stuff and wasn't nice feeling scared to take a shower...especially given how much these rooms cost per night. But the last room they put us in was completely clean, and we felt much better. We really appreciate how quickly the problem was dealt with, and the staff were very ready to help.
Besides this issue, we LOVED our stay! The pictures they have online do not do it justice. The surrounding area of the hotel is just gorgeous: mountains and a small stream, not too many other buildings or construction directly around, was so quiet and perfect! And the panoramic windows of the rooms are really a great feature for the perfect view they have. The stream directly below the hotel is super scenic, clean, and perfect for a dip. The rooms are spacious, the restaurant is good, they have a coffee machine and massage chairs (and a talking bird!) in the lobby, and a beautiful courtyard. As mentioned, the staff are friendly and helpful. And the location, while remote, is close to a nice village worth hiking around and the "source of Taihu lake" scenic area.
We just suggest the hotel deal with their bug issue properly, as well as study up on the hiking trails in the area so they can better direct their guests - then it'd be the perfect getaway!
