Kurialacherry House Alleppey

It was one of the most authentic and heartwarming travel experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and treated like family. The house itself is a beautiful blend of heritage architecture and modern comfort, surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful backwaters. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay memorable serving delicious home-cooked Kerala meals, offering insights into local culture, and even arranging a serene canoe ride through the narrow canals. The evening shikara ride was splendid too. Every detail, from the cozy rooms to the fragrant garden, reflected their care and dedication. Thanks to Mr. Jacob for organizing everything and exceeding expectations with the arrangements. Special Thanks to the care taker Sreekumar chettan for providing exceptional hospitality. Highly recommend!

We had a delightful 2 night stay at Kurialacherry House. The property is beautiful, right on the water with well cared for gardens. The rooms are set apart from the house and feel very private. The hospitality is excellent, Jacob and his family were very kind and Sreekumar looked after us so well. We did the sunrise canoeing and an hour on the Shikara boat at sunset, the rest of the time we just chilled by the water, watching the adorable geese go by and trying to tempt the cute cats to come and see us. Highly recommend this retreat over a houseboat, which we've read are causing a lot of pollution in the backwaters.

It's such a gorgeous place, and since the rooms are little 'houses' in the grounds of the host family's home we had the perfect experience of having independence and connection. As it happens the connection part was tested to the full as I developed a tooth infection. Elizabeth and Jacob, despite their incredibly busy life, ferried me into town twice to the dentist and the pharmacy and were the soul of kindness. We relaxed and read, and one of us swam and painted. We chatted to passers by, and to some wonderful fellow guests over delicious meals and the geese chatted to us when they came out for their daily swim. We walked with Sri Kumar to his village nearby and we took a sunset boat ride. It was idyllic, except for the tooth infection, but that's what I'll remember most I think. The kindness.

We stayed for one night and it was superb..we stayed in the room thats on their poster and it is v spacious with authentic rustic feeling n decor-highlight was the verandah opening onto the lake and the wooden walls and steps within the room that led to a balcony on the first floor- a cosy resort with lot of open space n spacious living space and amazing hospitality…the owner Jacob is v involved in the whole resort and personally ensures the guests comfort..the location is to-die-for with our room and verandah opening onto the beautiful lakeside..resort offers lot of activities but sadly we didnt hav time for it..the evning snacks and breakfast ws tasty n piping hot..ask the caretaker for customising the menu but opt for local food..he also arranged for an autorickshaw (tuk-tuk) for us for dinner at a local toddy-house..only drawback is that we got a bit lost on our way to resort initially but jacob helped us out there..

Really friendly hosts, lovely food and right on the water. We had good wifi and it was such a unique experience. I would encourage everyone to stay here. It was nice to stay with a family who have lived here for generations and to get to know plus it was convenient for seeing the water

Gorgeous location with very friendly people. The food is delicious and catered to our small children well. No request was small enough. It felt like we were staying with family! Wish we had stayed more than 1 night but we will definitely back for longer!
