Marni village is set in the side of a mountain, so the entire complex is set on a slope. You entered from the bottom end and it’s all uphill, with reception pretty much in the middle. The grounds are immaculate, beautifully decorated with Grecian urns and stone clad walls and buildings. It really is very charming. We booked a premium apartment, which was fairly spacious and had two balconies (one for drying washing and one for sitting out). You do have the option of booking an apartment with its own private pool, a bit like a swim up room, but be aware that the pools aren’t heated so it’s okay when you’re getting full sun but as soon as the shade moves around the pool is overcast then it becomes less inviting. Some plus points about the rooms: Aircon and a safety deposit box are provided as standard for free, (but they still hit you with a €5 per night tax the second you arrive), the patio doors have a nice pan & tilt feature which means you can leave them open from the top if you wish, and the Aircon still functions. Decent size bathroom with a walk-in shower but no bathtub. Hot water is super hot. Cons: lousy Wi-Fi. I mean really poor all over the complex. I know you don’t go away to spend your time on the Internet but it’s 2025 so decent Wi-Fi should be expected as standard. You can forget taking a fire stick or your Apple TV. There is a TV in the room but the choice of English channels are so limited it’s pretty pointless, plus it’s in the wrong place so it’s not easy to watch from the sofa. Aircon is located in the bedroom, but it’s ineffective in the main living area. It does have a quiet function so you can sleep with it on all night. There were numerous pools, but the main one is adjacent to the main bar area and the restaurant. Breakfast is the usual help yourself affair. The full English didn’t appeal but there’s plenty of choice from fruits, cereals, toast and yoghurt. The hotel only seems to have a bed & breakfast option but you can eat in the restaurant which we did twice. (Look out for a 10% off voucher they give you on arrival ) Food is reasonably priced and very good quality. You can pay as you go or just charge everything to your room and settle the bill at the end. There are however a plethora of little restaurants nearby which you would be a fool not to explore. Just turn left when leaving the complex and try and walk in a straight line as much as possible and you’ll find them all. There’s very little going on in the hotel - no daytime activities, no kids clubs, no entertainment in the evening other than a singer on a Sunday, so this may be better suited to more mature couples rather than families with young children. Would we come again? Yes, without a doubt! In fact this hotel has the option of booking directly with them so it may be worth checking out rather than automatically going with travel companies.
