Marriott's SurfWatch

We stayed here for three nights in two-bed rooms and enjoyed our stay. The condition of the rooms was great, and they are quite spacious. The fitness center was quite good with modern equipment. However, in order to enjoy this place, one needs to have a car. Nothing is within walking distance (except the beach). Also, this vacation club does not have any restaurants. It could have been better if there were more social activities such as free wine tasting. We enjoyed hiking at Sea Pine Forest Preserve, which I strongly recommend if you stay here. We encountered small alligators there!

The grounds are gorgeous and well taken care of. It is a beach resort and therefore right on the beach. However, depending on which building you’re in it can be a pretty long walk. It’s a very nice walk over a boardwalk I’m sure designed to run above protected land so we didn’t use them but there are golf cart type of shuttles going back and forth for those with the need. The pools are well located, we preferred the one closest to the beach. This is a family resort. There tended to be fewer small kids at this pool than at the main pool. This ocean side pool was where the resorts only restaurant was located. The pool bar, Sea Salts, offered great drinks and good food. It was your standard bar type menu. Our room was fantastic, clean and well appointed. There’s no maid service unless requested. The beds were relatively comfortable but the pillows were less than desirable. The staff we encountered were all friendly and eager to help. Overall a great stay.

This was our first trip to Surfwatch. The villas are set up well. The staff is very friendly. The beach is over a boardwalk, if the walk is too much for you, they have a shuttle service. We are in a 2 bedroom villa with a great view of the ocean. Like all Marriott villas, the kitchen has everything you need if you want to eat in the room.

This is our home away from home! We own a week, but try to stay here whenever we can! The staff is just wonderful, especially those at the pool near the beach. The food at Sea Salts is wonderful when you don’t want to go back to tour room during a beach/pool day. Personally, I’d love to be able to build a foundation with a garage and basement at home, and put the 3 bedroom floor plan on top of it as the main living area. It is the PERFECT condo floor plan, and the master bath is outstanding!! It might sound strange to look forward to using the shower, but once you experience it, nothing else compares.

The Resort was very nice but the front desk agent could use a lot of training on customer service when we arrived our unit was not ready they said they would text when it was ready ok that would be fine when we returned the unit was still not ready 10 mins before 4pm ck in time the front desk agent said to my mom checkin time is not for another ten mins and was very rude about it will be staying at grande ocean in the future where great customer service is

Stayed in a 3 bedroom 3 bath condo. Was nicely appointed..large bedrooms. Couch was not comfortable. Checkin was easy, parking convenient. They rent bikes, umbrellas and beach chairs. Patio furniture at the pool could use a cleaning, table were very dirty. Easy to get a golf cart ride to the beach or you can walk it from the further building in 10 minutes.

Wonderful staff! Beautiful Resort!!! Spacious, modern, spotless accomodations. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the resort. Loved the convenience of walking to the beach with a great beach bar right on the boardwalk.

Marriott Surfwatch is the best. We went as a family of 8 and had a wonderful time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are great. With so much to do at the resort and on Hilton Head it's a great place to vacation.

No one is better at telling you you're a VIP then sticking it to you than Marriott Vacation Club. We will be returning to Surf Watch and got a call from Kathy telling us how VIP we are and we'll have a special check in line and a special lounge to use, yada yada yada. She asked if I had any requests, and I said I'd like to be as close to the ocean as possible. I realize that I"m not paying ocean front prices, and I don't expect to be. But I got a call today from Greg telling me that we are in the building at the very back of the property. If we were any further from the ocean we'd be staying at the Sherwin William store. The ironic thing is that when we first started using Vacation Club we owned X points. When we did a sales presentation I expressed my frustration that we always get stuck all the way in the back of a resort. The rep told us that if we bought more points that would get us into closer lodgings. We believed her. And now with more points we're actually further back from the beach than we have been before. But they still fawn all over you, telling you how valued you are. I have Platinum for Life Bonvoy Status with Marriott and get treated very well. Until I visit a Vacation Club property, even after doubling my points, and I get treated like a schmuck. Buyer beware.
