Originally, from Bolton in Lancashire we have always loved visiting the Lake District and exploring areas along the Solway Coast. We originally moved up to Cumbria in 2006, were we renovated our first house a Georgian Farmhouse, in a small parish just outside Wigton. We now live at Church House Farm with our daughter Holly. We renovated Church House Barn, which is next to our farmhouse, 2 years ago. The barn now provides comfortable self-catering accommodation which we hope you will enjoy visiting. Step back in time to 1666, experience our Grade II listed Glamping Bothy, wood log fired, comfortable king size bed, hot showers all tastefully renovated 2020. Enjoy a BBQ on our grounds for cosy evenings, situated in the heart of our scenic Lake district village of Caldbeck, with river walks, duckpond & waterfalls, fresh farm milk &eggs, gastronomic village pub, cafes, village shops. Hiking & cycling trails at your doorstep into the vast open planes leading to the gateway on the Northern Fells.The spaceA simple Bothy with a rustic feel. Everything you need for a weekend get away with a difference!! With its own private sauna, the perfect way to unwind and relax after a hard day's walk on the fells! Fitted with a woodburner also will keep you cosy.A quirky mezzanine platform has a nice view of the fields and sheep and you'll sleep well on a platform bed with super comfy king size mattress. Below is small double futon bed which can act as a sofa also. Plenty of blankets are provided also. We recommend that you bring warm clothing and slippers. Bothies are traditionally stone or wooden buildings located in the mountains to provide a shelter. Although this is a Fell side bothy it is still built the traditional way out of stone. You do have to pop out briefly to access the toilet, shower and Sauna room. It's a great place if you enjoy camping/glamping!! Fitted also with TV, WiFi and a very simple kitchen.We look forward to seeing you soon :)Guest accessGuests will have exclusive use of there own Finnish Sauna which is all self contained in the building. Simply follow the Sauna instructions and we recommend a 2 hour session per day.Guests have there own patio/ outdoor area for barbecue or chilling.Other things to noteThe Bothy is completely open plan, with kitchen, living room and sleeping area all in the same room. The shower, toilet, sauna & sink facilities are right next door so please bring warm clothing as you briefly need to pop out to access it. There are radiators and a woodburner but this isn't a house- it's much more fun!
