I have stayed at Diamond Head Beach Hotel and Residences many times and loved it! This review is regarding the most recent stay, Ste 601. We appreciate the availability of renting a garage space so no need to park at Kapiolani Park and feed the meter (though not expensive). I need to say renting a unit with a lanai and having lovely views of the surf and sunsets is the main reason this unit was chosen. My family has stayed in another unit with great lanai ( I believe 10th floor) - beautifully decorated and well appointed. This unit, Ste 601 was not what we expected for $295 a night. The picture showed basic furniture, two queen beds and a lounge chair on the lanai. Ok, we can go with basic. When we arrived, the room code didn't work so we waited for the host to meet us and fix the problem. We received a call saying no early check in, then another call saying we could heck in early. By the time we were able to access the room it was after normal check in time...oh well. Stains on the carpet, torn/tattered curtains, no bed spread. Several kitchen tiles were cracked and cheese grater had dried cheese tuck to it. We always wash our dishes prior to use any ways (no, we didn't use the cheese grater- just noticed it) The bedroom closet had items laying on the floor-must be for owner use or extra "stuff". No bedspreads, just sheets, no appeal. The air conditioner was loud! We set a room temp at 70 and it definitely was not 70. Seemed to struggle with maintaining an average room temp. Of course, we turned off the air conditioning whilst we were gone. The lanai is where we loved to have breakfast and spend our evenings if not out. The lounge chair had a tear in the fabric, the outdoor rug was unravelling. I feel this place could really use a makeover! The furniture was mismatched, leftovers from college days maybe or finds from a thrift store ( I shop thrift stores and find some nicer lamps than this!) The living room curtains were worn and torn. Ripped in many areas. The "privacy" white plexiglass placed on the bottom of the wall size windows was separating or not attached well. We figured being a holiday week (Memorial) it would be too difficult and costly to find another location. We did pay in full, in advance I contacted the property manager/management company via email (sent pictures) but haven't received a response. I did inquire if there is any reconciliation and suggested an inspection of the unit in person by the president of the property management company as this property is misrepresented.
