TCS Camping Lucerne-Horw

Very unfriendly staff to start with! Campsite does not let you leave before 8 am… this is late if you want to get through Gothardt tunnel before the rush. So at 8 there is a queue to get off the campsite! Not a good campsite on route to the south!! Sanitair is old and very few toilets (7 ladies) and washbasin (4 mixed) for size of site (see photo). So que in the morning for toilet and shower. Only one vehicle per spot allowed, and beware caravan and trailor tent is classed as a vehicle(!!???), so you have to park your car outside campsite on parking with NO security or camera! So completely unattended!!! This camping is not on the lake(), to get to the lake you leave the campsite and can only get lakeside via the private beach, you get free entry from the campsite for this, but it is only open certain hours! (Not evening). So no evening walk along the lake…The only reason I gave 2 stars for location, is because it is close to motorway. You need a Swiss campsite plug for electricity, you can borrow this, but again you have to que at 8 in the morning to return it, as everyone is trying to leave campsite at 8 to get to Gothard tunnel asap! Also campsite has nothing where you can get food, campsite shop is no more than a few drinks and some sweets and crisps. Only Take away at walking distance is at the private beach but this is only open daytime.

Good site but small pitches which is not a problem, great atmosphere. Facilities are excellent. There isn’t an access to the lake, there is a lido next to the site where you can access the lake but it is not lake front. The site is adjacent to a sports complex, on Friday night there is a football match, full flood lights and whistles blowing every 2 minutes. Not a relaxing chill out night outside the Motorhome. I’m hoping it’s only Friday a we are here Saturday as well Quite an industrial area really

Great location and nice clean site. The site is really handy for the bus and train in and around Lucerne and right on the lake itself. We didn't use the Lido next door but it looked nice. The showers and facilities were great and the staff on the reception were helpful and there is a small bar and outdoor seating. Our stay (2 nights) was spoilt by the football tournaments and subsequent parties at the stadium next to the site. First night finished at 12 which was fine and was fun to listen too, the second night didn't finish til 2.30 and then they started clearing up meaning a 3am finish. The reception staff did say there would be a party but we never anticipated that the base and football chants would make our van shake! We visited Stans and used the visitor pass for the buses and to get discount off the cable car ride etc...which was great. Overall a nice site but spoilt by something that is probably out of the control of the owners, so would stay again but maybe only mid week.

This is a fairly small site. It is pleasant but the pitches are cramped. You cannot gain entry between 11 am and 1 pm. The facilities are limited but perfectly adequate and clean. There is a bathing place a little walk from the campsite. This is a separate business but the campsite will give you a voucher for free entry every day. We were here on a weekend and the bathing was very busy and the water a bit murky. But on the Monday it was quieter and the water was clearer. There is a Coop store and bakery in the little town of Horw nearby which is an easy cycle ride away. Lucerne centre is about 3.5 miles away. There are many cycle lanes except in the centre. We cycled in to the centre of Lucerne easily and took the ferry to Weggis and the cable car and train up to the top of Rigi. Stunning views. Jolly expensive so make a day of it. Take plenty water and a picnic unless you are happy to shell out a lot of money.

Schöner Campingplatz am Stadtrand mit begrenzten Parzellen, direkt neben einem Strandbad. Die sanitaeren Anlagen koennten besser sein. Die integrierte Luzern Gaestekarte und für das Freibad sind sehr gut und auch die sehr nette Fuehrung des TCS Campingplatzes.

Een goede kamping om door te trekken maar niet om langer dan 2 nachten te verblijven! Een hele fletse camping, sanitair is degelijk onderhouden maar de rest van de camping laten ze iets wat verloederen. Niet echt een vakantiesfeer als je er toekomt, vriendelijkheid was ook wat moeilijk, ect. Wij verbleven voor de rest van onze vakantie in Jungfrau Camping, Lauterbrunnen en amai, dat was DIK in orde!!! Ik kan maar een ding aanbevelen; rij een uurtje verder voor Lauterbrunnen. De omgeving is daar ook prachtig. TCS was ok voor 1 dag om Luzern te bezoeken en dan naar huis te gaan.
