The Ivy Suites

Booked this hotel for June but had email from Jet2 yesterday to say holiday had been cancelled. Called Jet2 to find out what the problem was and was told the hotel was closing down. Wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience. Got full refund and decided to go to Kalkan.

I don't quite know where to start. This is a late review as we went in August 2023 and staying for 3 weeks for a wedding. We booked this hotel before any reviews were put on and I am so glad we did. We had booked into a five star all inclusive hotel but with so many great bars and shops in Icmeler we didn't think we would make use of it. At the last minute we cancelled and booked in at the Ivy suites. We took a bit of a chance as there were no reviews at the time but that is because the hotel is very new. What an amazing place. The location is perfect. 100m to the beach and directly on the main road but not close enough to the busy bars to be disturbed. The rooms are spacious and extremely well presented with a master bedroom and a lounge/second bedroom separated by a bathroom. The bedroom and the lounge both have a balcony and the end rooms in block A have a third balcony looking out onto the road with a partial sea view. At the front of the hotel is a very nice new bar and restaurant that serves a great selection of food and drinks. Again, everything is exceptional. The bar staff serve drinks and food around the pool from early morning until after we went to bed each night. The pool is a great size. Bigger than necessary for the size of the hotel. I'm sure there are more sunbeds than required and plenty of space to get around. The water is spotless. The hotel is beautifully decorated. Its a really lovely place to spend your holiday. All that said there is one thing that stands out above all of the other qualities that this hotel possess and that is the staff. Congratulations to the owner and the management team. I can only imagine that each and every one of the staff have been hand picked for their skills and personalities. They are all very good at what they do. It would be unfair to single out any staff in particular as they are all exceptional.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August & generally ok, good location & nice modern rooms. Having the 2 rooms with wardrobes & a balcony was really nice & worked well for us. The cleanliness of the rooms definitely needs improvement. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine, the sink & items like toothbrush holder/soap holder were really dirty & not up to use. The balcony wasn't cleaned & it had pigeon poo all over it. Previous people's cigarette butts left etc. Bed only changed once & the same with towels. Safe didn't work. Pool area is nice but not much atmosphere. The young guys & girls working there were very friendly & helpful where possible but it seemed to lack any managerial input. I was aware of a lady manager but didn't seem to engage at all. Another older lady working in the restaurant part always seemed very stressed & moody. Breakfast had a good choice & food was nice on other occasions. One of the days the water was cut off which apparently was all over icmeler & had been planned but no signs up or not told by staff which seemed to cause havoc. No showers or able to flush toilets wasn't the best, just a warning might of been the thing. I would stay here again if cleaning was improved.

Although the apartments are spacious, the level of cleanliness is clearly not up to last years from reviews we read before booking. The towels are refolded on the bed to look like clean ones. The cups are turned upside down but still have ring marks in them from your last drink. The milk jug served with breakfast was filthy. There was pigeon poo on our balcony that was never cleaned. The pigeons also drank from and poo'd in the pool. The safe did not lock, and despite requesting it was fixed, it did not work for two weeks.

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere to eat. After having some very unimpressive meals since arriving in Icmeler. A couple were sat on the terrace enjoying a meal, my partner noticed how nice the steak looked, and we decided to stop here for dinner. We were made very welcome. We ordered a beer and cocktail which were very nice ( best pina colada ever!) We deliberated over a vast menu with many options. However after my partner had seen the steak with a different couple he decided to have the T-Bone. And I decided to have the chicken schnitzel. And starters! The portions and quality of the food was incredible in accordance to the price. The waiters, Akif, Harun and a lady we didn’t catch the name of were incredibly hospitable, nothing was too much. I have a nut allergy which was taken extremely seriously with Harun going to check with kitchen to ensure I was safe to have what I had chosen, not something we have previously experienced since being here. The couple previously mentioned turned out to be the owners of the ivy suite; the man approached us upon finishing our meals asking us if everything was okay with our food and evening at the Ivy as we were unable to finish our mains. We cannot stress enough how incredible the food and evening as a whole was, the ambience decor and overall vibe you get from being here is incomparable to anywhere else we have seen here. We were taken to the pool area at the end of our time at The Ivy and were told by Harun that we would be welcome anytime to enjoy their incredible facilities. We enjoyed our time here so much that we decided to return this morning for a late breakfast which again was very enjoyable. We will certainly be returning whilst here and if ever back in Icmeler, we will certainly be booking our stay with The Ivy Suites!!!

Lovely hotel, rooms are spacious but had to request a lower level room as we couldn’t cope with the stairs to the loft suites. Breakfast choice was excellent but we didn’t try the restaurant during the day as the drink prices were much higher than elsewhere in the resort. Staff were very helpful and accommodating but I didn't appreciate one of them paying us a room visit at 5am. The pool area is very quiet for those who like to read however, it doesn’t get much sun. All the furniture on the upper sun terrace where the sun beats down all day was covered up and stacked away. This hotel could be a little gem, but the management needs to contemplate why residents are not using the great facilities they offer as most people go the beach during the day and eat out at night.
