Wayfarer Inn

Loved the meal and atmosphere of the wayfarer . All the staff were lovely. Marley an Tom are waiters were awesome and very polite. The food was excellent. Great place to go to celebrate a family day out. We will be returning later in the year. Many thanks to all at the wayfarer.

Kath myself and a good friend had a lovely roast lunch including roast lamb which was melt in your mouth followed up by 3 lovely desserts all washed down with one of my favourite real ales Dartmoor brewery's Legend. We have ate there many times and have always had a lovely meal and experience.

The Wayfarer has a great location but the level of cleanliness really lets it down. The shower room had very bad black mildew with a horrible lingering smell. We were shown two rooms and both had the same issue. The windowframes had also not been cleaned properly and were also growing mildew. We raised our concerns to the management at checkout and with follow-up communication and they simply blamed the age of the building and didn’t acknowledge that some deep cleaning (or just some normal cleaning in the cases of the windows) would have made a big difference. It was a real shame because otherwise the room was large, furniture good, view nice, location great. We stayed at 6 other properties as we were walking the coast trail. The others were spotless (and in fact less expensive). The Wayfarer let us down and lets itself down.

Had a great evening meal on New years Eve Not all the food choices were available from the menu as they had been so busy but we were told as we were given the menus. My husband had the Devin Ruby Red burger and he said it was probably the best burger he had ever had !! I had chicken fajitas. They were very large but so good I ate them all. There were 6 of us in total and we all enjoy the food. We had a good evening but we left before New year as one of our party wasn’t feeling well and we had quite a walk home. But we left the pub in full swing with people dancing and having a great time the atmosphere was very good. We will definitely return.

This is a fantastic pub in the beautiful estuary village of Instow . The pub serves several real ales, all beautifully kept. The Sunday roast is magnificent but make sure that you book. Our family has been there on many occasions. The staff are very attentive and professional and Debbie and Ellie made our visit very special. Chris , the landlord often cooks the roast himself and takes a special pride in it. The menu is extensive and everything is excellent . Highly recommended.

Lovely meal great atmosphere. Mickie fabulous bar man so amazingly helpful. Owners lovely and so friendly. Recommend. Anyone should go and try the food beer and lovely local welcome. Views amazing come off the beach with your family and dogs and relax or come back in the evening for fabulous food. Sara B
