All inside walls and ceilings are the original wood beams, In the back bedroom, you will even see the back of a stone fireplace that was at one time a centerpiece of the home. In fact the cottage is built by the site of the traditional homestead and resting place of some of the original settlers in the area. Their homestead lasted hundreds of years on the high ground by the live oaks, with the land where Pelican Point now stands serving as the family farm and route to the wetlands and sound for hunting and fishing. Although the original homestead has made way for development, some of the descendants still live near Pelican Point and are great neighbors with wonderful stories to tell!
