Coyotes are regular but discreet visitors. Guests may encounter “Owlbert,” a large Great Horned Owl who has claimed Honey Bear Orchard as his territory since about 2017. Most guest will never see him, but they are very likely to hear him in the predawn hours. Several kinds of hawks, and an occasional Bald Eagle have been sighted, but the songbirds along Clear Creek will dazzle the eye. September 27, 2024, is a day we will never forget here in WNC. Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc to this area of our mountains. Slowly but surely, we are rebuilding. Grandma's Cabin was miraculously spared and is now up and running.We do need to let everyone know that the road conditions are rough in some parts.
