Horrible beyond words. We booked here for Derby. Not exactly cheap at over $200/night. Arrived to an area where the neighboring hotel looked abandoned. Gutted and per other reviews here, it's been that way a long while. Quite the creepy vibe. Arrived at the property, and zero cars in lot. Zero people in the lobby. Waited for a clerk, heard not a sound. Clerk finally came in, and then took an inordinate amount of time to find our reservation. He informed us we had booked a handicapped room. We certainly did not. Asked for another, and was told it was impossible due to Derby. Asked what was different about this room vs a regular but he couldn't tell us. Maybe very new on the job as I imagine turnover is frequent. We went to our room and OMG. Horrible beyond words. We were greeted with a series of carpet stains trailing into the room. Dirt? Perhaps animal excrement? Blood? Human excrement? No clue. But beyond shameful they'd even try to rent this space. We then spotted stains on the comforter, pillow cases, even the tub had an inexplicable red discoloration. Gross. We didnt unpack, just took out cells and laptops to find another location. As we did, we tried to avoid touching or sitting as the furniture and things felt gritty and looked rank. Of course, not helped by the only sunlight was from 1 small window looking out to the abandoned wreckage next door. Went back to the lobby to inform them we couldn't accept these accommodations. Got the "no refunds/Derby policy" line. Offered to pay for the first night, but was told no....they were keeing our money for all 4 nights. I wasn't going to get into it with a clerk. Asked for the manager, or the name of the owners, managenent company, etc. He pleaded to know nothing, he just worked the desk. I'm now working with the corporate office and will update you on that as it unfolds. In the meantime, if you are still reading this and considering rolling the dice on this location to save a little money vs the prices in Louisville, don't! Especially if you have wife and kids. It may exceed just being filthy, might be unhealthy. Debating calling the state for an inspection. I'm now writing this from a room in Louisville costing me 5x and every penny is worth it! I'd have spent 10x to escape that nightmare. PS tried to add photos, but it seems blocked. Will try again when I write an update. Stay tuned.
