This hotel needs to really improve if they want to appeal to a wider market. The hotel was in an okay location. The rooms upon arrival smelt of cigarette smoke, even though I booked non smoking rooms! Each room came with ashtrays in them and cigarette burns on some of the carpets. We had three rooms booked. We were told by the front desk that they would come and spray the rooms with air freshener and open the windows! This would not have removed the smell as smoke is embedded into furnishings! They moved us to another floor and whilst this was an improvement, it didn’t wholly stope the smell. The buffet breakfast was the worst breakfast in 40 years of travelling I have ever come across. It is purely directed at the Asian market and not suitable for foreign tourists. There was only 1 two slices toaster that was totally inadequate. No individual sachets of Jane or other condiments, only a large, almost empty, jar of peanut butter that looked like it had seen better days (it had residual pieces of god knows what in it)! The hot food was just disgusting. It was all limp and totally unappetizing. In the end, we gave up and ended up eating breakfast elsewhere (cake shop for fresh baked buns). There was also no baggage assistance when checking out. No baggage trolley in sight. It was difficult when travelling with elderly people. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. We have been coming to Jiangmen to visit family for years and usually stay at The Yucca Hotel, however it is being renovated at this time. We will, on our next trip, avoid the Lavande and stay at The Yucca.
