We stayed in Kanapitsa last year so decided to try this hotel as it is a good location close to bus stop 12. On arrival we didn't like our room so decided to pay to upgrade and we opted for a fantastic sea view room with large balcony...beautiful. You have to pay the increased tourist tax of 10 Euros per night as this hotel grades it self 4 star. So for 11 nights we had to pay 110 euros. Ladies...you do need to take your own hair dryer. Also, other useful tips... they will give you a kettle for room but you need to ask reception. They also provide free WiFi and pool tools f you ask for them. In my view these things should be sorted when you check in. One of the major disappointments for us was breakfast. It was not good enough. There was never enough eggs and bacon put out, when we asked the man always on breakfast duty said they had ran out. Barung in mind we stayed in May and the hotel was relatively quiet! They changed which kind of eggs they would do each day and the omelette was not omelette it was a small square of fried something...it was terrible. Also the scrambled egg not inviting. The juice was either really sweet or watered down. No fresh fruit chopped up..just tinned fruit. Yet you could take an apple or orange. Once I asked for some water as there wasn't any, and I was given warm water...like it was out of the tap. The young man on breakfast did not look presentable for a 4 star hotel. He did not check to replenish things like bread or breakfast items. It was really poor and some changes to breakfast would have made the first meal of our day so much better. Must give a shout out to our excellent cleaning lady Marina...she was fab and made sure our room was kept lovely. We tried to give constructive feedback on checking out but I think it was the owner ( male) said that they can't change the juice as its what their supplier brings as they are an island? I found that to be nonsense as the supermarket down the road provides a selection of quality juices! Other things to note... there is a fantastic restaurant close by called Johnny's and a supermarket close by too.

This hotel is easy to get to and from on the bus (stop 12) or ferryboat from Skiathos town We stayed here for 12 nights at the end of June in a large renovated room on 5th floor. The view from the room was spectacular and bed very comfortable. It had obviously been recently done up but just needed a bit more furniture, maybe some pictures and a sofa or chair. A peculiar thing was the bedside units were fixed onto the wall but really needed adjusting to bedside rather than half a metre away on each side! Other than these little problems all else was lovely especially the beautiful bathroom. Large swimming pool, pool bar and sunbeds were all really nice. The staff were exceptional on reception, room attendants, Mario the barman and the lovely lady who served breakfast. On an evening we ate nearby at Johnnies and The Kanapitsa Taverna which were good, but there was the option of a small (but good ) at the hotel if you didn’t want to venture far. Overall it was a lovely stay at the Kanapitsa Mare and nice introduction to Skiathos.

We loved this hotel. We loved everything about it and I honestly have no idea why some reviewers are so rude about the staff and/or the actual hotel. Sonia and Marios are just so so lovely, they can’t do enough for you. The receptionists are the same; just lovely. We had a bulb go out in our corridor and it was so dark we were literally feeling our way down the wall to our room. Went to reception to report it (not to complain…!) and it was all sorted 15 minutes later. We had another issue when the husband dropped something down the basin…! Again, a trip to reception to report it and the maintenance man was straight up and sorted it for us - brilliant service! The hotel is on a quite steep slope, but it’s Greece and you need to burn off a few calories what with all the wonderful food frankly, but if you have mobility issues I’d be a bit cautious. The view was fantastic over the sea both from the terrace and from our room. The pool is fantastic, with an actual deep end, which is fabulous and most pools are just fairly shallow leisure type pools, so this was perfect. The bar food and the dinner food is just lovely and so is breakfast. The weather was 31 degrees at 10am and the aircon did a brilliant job cooling our room down for us. We had a truly wonderful time at the hotel and we were genuinely so sad to say goodbye to Sonia and Marios, they are a real credit. We will most definitely book again. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday. Abby and Paul, room 212

Gorgeous sea views from good sized balcony, room was cleaned every day and nice quality bathroom towels and linen. Bed was comfortable and the room Had air con. Plenty of sun beds round the pool. Close to bus stop 12 so easy to get to the port and other beaches . Also there was a water taxi on the local beach which was great and also took you to the port. We ate at the hotel a couple of times and the food was ok as was the price. Marios the barman made excellent cocktails. Sun beds on the beach were expensive, €20 or if you wanted a collapsible umbrella or front row €30. These needed to be pre booked. There is a great supermarket close by which sells everything. Not many other places locally to eat, Jonnys restaurant was the closest and had excellent food. You need to book this well in advance. Our room was a standard double with a sea view. Very outdated, especially the bathroom. The tap was corroded and the hairdryer was very old fashioned with the hose sellotaped on. Some of the rooms had been refurbished but these cost more. Breakfast was very poor and chaotic. There was one person clearing plates and replenishing food. There was never enough food out, two days there were no cups or glasses for ages. Tables were piled up with dirty dishes. I have never experienced this before and won’t return. This wasn’t even high season.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Kanapitsa Mare hotel and loved it! We paid a bit extra for a sea view which I’d highly recommend as the views are stunning. The hotel has all the basics including air conditioned rooms which made the nights more comfortable. It was very clean throughout and the staff did a thorough job of cleaning our room each morning. All staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful when we had questions. Plus, the pool was lovely and clean. It had a very shallow pool for dipping your feet or for children and a deeper pool for swimming. The buffet breakfast had an excellent selection of food including cereal, pastries, juices, tea/coffee and hot items. The hotel also offers lunch, dinner and has an excellent range of drinks in the bar by the pool. We had dinner there one evening and it is fairly priced. The location was perfect as two beaches are within walking distance and opposite Johnny’s restaurant (highly recommend). It’s also a 2 minute walk from the bus stop (number 12) which is easy to navigate. If we ever return to Skiathos, we will be checking back to the Kanapitsa Mare. No complaints at all.

Excellent Hotel in a great location The views from the rooms are the best you could ask for looking out over the sea to Skopelos and to sit on your balcony at night watching the twinkling lights across the sea is magical The Hotel is very clean and the rooms are well appointed and equipped, the double beds are massive The breakfast is good with a wide variety of both hot and cold food The Hotel has a good pool and sunbathing area with elavated views across the sea and also a great poolside bar that serves a good variety of drinks served by Marios the Bar man who does the best Cocktails All the staff are very friendly and make you feel like part of the family This is my 3rd consecutive stay and will be booking again for next May

Just back from a 14 night stay at the Kanapista Mare; I was aware of the mixed reviews prior to our visit and wasn't too sure what to expect. I can honestly say however that there are no significant problems with the property. There some areas which could be improved upon, not all of which are the responsibility of the hotel. Firstly the exceedingly steep slope loading to reception from the road. Whilst the hotel can do little about this, TUI, the tour operator should detail this in their description as there will be a lot of disabled people who simply would struggle to manage this consequently this constitutes a significant omission and a breach of their responsibility under the Disability Discrimination Act. Clearly there is a possibility of car hire which would alleviate much of this problem. On occasions loud music can be heard until the early hours coming from a party, yuppy, beach bar on Porto Nostos beach. The music is electro style and lacks any type of endearing qualities. Again the hotel can do little about this as it has been approved by the authorities. The owner however, is aware of the issue and is keen to get further controls exercised. This is not a significant problem as it occurs maybe twice per week and if you have your doors closed and air con on you seldom hear it. The only sugar free drinks available at the bar was Coke Zero. Being a pre-diabetic watching his carb intake, this was quite restrictive. The option of low Cal tonic would have been a nice alternative. The pool is large and deep and salt controlled. The salt content however is quite significant ,much higher than the sea, which is unusual. That said the pool was clean and refreshing, loungers and shade were never a problem. We had several lunches and 1 evening meal at the hotel and these were more than satisfactory and competitively priced. The room was one of the old type but spacious, clean and with a large balcony, shower and nice Seaview. The bed was a super king and very comfortable Pillows were ok but a little too spongy for us. Breakfasts offered a good choice of hot and cold although as with many hotels it became repetitive after a while. The buffet was always well stocked and serviced by staff on a regular basis. All staff were pleasant and a particular thanks goes to the receptionists and barman. Overall I would have no problem staying again however, we seldom go back to the same hotel.
