Every city has a few perfect hotels, where price, amenities, staff, and location all combine into a place you enjoy and feel good about. Traditional Comfort is one of those. It's a relatively new hotel (2015 they told me), but traditionally designed. The rooms are large and have character. The common areas are comfortable and inviting, and the rooftop is one of the best in a city where every hotel, bar, and cafe has one. But the staff is what outs it over the top. Friendly, competent; always someone around when you need them. And like most exceptional hotels, there are standout staff among an otherwise strong crew. Here it's Santosh. Friendly and good at his job, he works in the restaurant and at the rooftop bar, a warm and friendly presence wherever he is. Clientele was mostly Everest Base Camp groups when I was there's spending a night on their way to or from, but this is a place that'll reward several-night stays as you get to know the city beyond Thamel.
