This hotel advertises on booking (dotcom) that they are pet friendly and that pets are received upon request. My wife and I, we made a reservation and asked the owner if it's ok to come with our dog. As answer we received the words "you are blessed to choose us". We arrived at the hotel to find out the owner is an extremely rude person who refused to acknowledge the reservation (which would have been an inconvenience) and also refused to refund us (which in my book is theft), based on the fact we came with our dog. It is, of course, their right to refuse pets. However, once you set your policy, you should honour it. We called the booking agent and was told the hotel does not accept pets. The hotel policy was changed. Luckily, the cache on my phone still showed the hotel policy as pet friendly 10 minutes prior to our discussion with the agent. We recovered our money. This is an ugly story for us and a black spot on an otherwise beautiful island. The hotel is in a remote location and we travelled 5 hours by car to get there. We had to travel another 2 to get to a hotel the nice agent found for us instead. I wish Mr. Nico (the owner) all the best and may he be treated by a hotel the exact same as he treated us, when he takes his vacation. Mr. Nico, if you are reading this, know that I intend to check your hotel policy from time to time and post a warning wherever I can.
