Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa

Another amazing stay at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa. We booked a suite once again as the last time we stayed our suite was absolutely wonderful and well worth the extra money. This time we stayed in the spa building again on the 3rd floor. We had a view over the spa and out to the lake and a balcony with views onto the fells. The sure was huge with plenty of seating and space to relax. The bedroom was separated with a room divider which made it feel cosy. The bathroom was huge with gorgeous shower looking out onto the fells. You also get entry to the spa included with your room. The spa is beautiful, a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of facilities. Various heat experiences, showers, outdoor sauna etc. the relaxation area is lovely too. The infinity pool was my favourite and the views are to die for! The cocktails in the champagne bar were delicious and perfect to have whilst enjoying the views! We booked the Boxing Day sale offer so we also got breakfast included - we had this in our suite and it was delicious! This was easy to order and you can specify a time to have it delivered. We also got an allowance for dinner which we could use in either the falls brasserie or Mizu. This time we went to Mizu and had a fabulous meal. We don’t usually eat a lot of Asian food so we order a selection of things to try with the help of the staff. Food was amazing, service was great and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. I can’t fault our stay here at all. Everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were very welcoming - I can’t wait for our next stay!

I booked this for an anniversary surprise & had a heard a lot of good things. However for the amount of money for 2hrs and afternoon tea I wouldn't be rushing back. The spa itself was small but cosy. The pool needed a good clean, scum lines & the floor needed a clean. Tropical shower ceiling full of black mould, which really put me off. The flooring outside (wood) was also indeed of some TLC. The views & sauna rooms were lovely. Dylan who served us in the spa was lovely & made our stay extra nice. Taking time to chat & not feel like an inconvenience. The spa staff were always doing something or helping someone. We then went to our afternoon tea, there was no check backs or offering of a second drink, I asked for some water & sadly im still waiting. Lovely location, some friendly staff & sauna rooms. I think a wedding reception started as we arrived so this meant we were more of an after thought to this function. Staff staying in back of house areas rather than circling and seeing how we were(restaurant.) I don't think for the service received it was worth the amount paid sadly.

Highly recommend visiting Ladore, we loved our trip. The onsite spa is well worth a visit, looking out from the edge of the pool with a glass of Champagne is unbeatable.

Lovely hotel with great facilities to boot, fantastic location great for trekking out in the day and then relaxing in the evening. If you get chance try out both restaurants as they different in all aspects, the spa is a great wind down, just a pity a visit isn’t included in the stay.

My husband bought me a voucher for a night in a suite at the Lodore falls as a birthday gift. Having driven past many times I'd always wanted to stay there. When it came to booking, prices had changed so we were delighted to be offered dinner bed and breakfast in the most expensive suite in the hotel for the same price. On arrival at The Lordore Falls, we were told that check-in was at 3pm but only when we asked did that lady on reception check to see if the suite was ready early - which it was !. Our suite was lovely and very spacious. There were a couple of minor niggles (such as not having a soap or shampoo dispenser next to the bath !,) but otherwise we were happy. As the afternoon went on, we heard a band playing and noticed that the hotel was hosting a wedding. We were initially ok with it, as our room was away from the main building were the wedding was being held. Our two hours in the spa was lovely apart from the fact that the bar at the spa ran out of chilled 'Champagne by the glass' and staff seemed reluctant to obtain any from the main hotel (which would suggest that the spa is run by a separate operator to the hotel). After the spa we went in the main hotel bar for drinks and it was absolutely heaving with wedding guests. It was hard to find a place to sit and took a while to get served. There was an obvious divide between those who had come to The Lodore for a quiet night away and the wedding party who were taking over !. As our room was away from the main building we had quite a peaceful nights sleep however the next morning breakfast was carnage. Staff seemed stressed and rushed off their feet and we were asked to return later in the morning (despite having booked a table the night before). I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and was told that the kitchen had run out of veggie sausages. I was served a veggie burger pattie instead, which seemed out of place on a breakfast. In summary, The Lodore is a lovely hotel, in a beautiful location. The spa is fantastic and we found the staff to be very friendly. I would stay again, however my advice to anyone is to check before booking, to see if there is a wedding on at the same time. If there is, it can definitely be disruptive and detract from the tranquility of the place ....and should be avoided at all costs.
