We booked Bungalows Key Largo with the expectation of a high-end, all-inclusive resort experience. Unfortunately, what we encountered was a serious health and sanitation issue on arrival — and a deeply disappointing response from resort management. Timeline of Events: On the evening of April 5, 2025, after having dinner at the resort, we returned to our bungalow to find a live bed bug crawling on the bed, directly where turn-down service had just been completed. Upon further inspection, we observed what appeared to be bed bug eggs under the bed. We immediately reported the issue. A staff member arrived via golf cart and transported us to the lobby, where we met with the manager. From the moment we explained what we had seen, the manager began denying the possibility of a bed bug issue — long before anyone had inspected the room. The concern was minimized and dismissed. Eventually, a housekeeper was sent to “check” the room, but no pest control professional was called, and no formal protocol was followed. Given the nature of the issue and the resort’s failure to respond appropriately, we made the decision to leave the property that night. We did not stay overnight and did not use any of the resort’s amenities beyond the initial dinner. We immediately requested a refund for the unused stay and followed up in writing on April 8. On April 10, we received a response stating that a third-party exterminator had inspected the room on April 6 and April 9 and found no evidence of bed bugs or pests. However, these inspections took place after we had left and after the room had likely been cleaned and turned over. These delayed inspections do not negate what we personally saw and reported the night of April 5. Then, on April 11, the resort posted a public response to our initial TripAdvisor review. They claimed our concerns were “without merit,” accused us of attempting to damage their reputation, and declared they would no longer respond to further communication. No apology. No responsibility. No concern. To make matters worse, this trip was booked to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary — a milestone that was completely derailed and ruined by this experience and the way we were treated. We have since read other guest reviews citing pest problems, including cockroaches and termites. This suggests our situation was not isolated, but part of a broader pattern that management seems unwilling to address. To be clear, we are fully within our rights to document and share our experience as paying guests, and we do so in good faith. This review reflects firsthand facts and direct communication with the resort. We will not be intimidated into silence by dismissive language or public accusations. We are currently pursuing all appropriate remedies for services paid for but never received and reserve the right to take further action as needed. To future guests: the setting may appear idyllic, but if something goes wrong, you may find yourself dismissed, bl
