Just back from Currawong Lakes where we stayed 3 nights in a bush cabin. Had a lovely time. The cabin was well fitted out with very comfortable large beds. An adequate kitchen and even a washing machine (we had just come out from the Central Plateau where we had camped for 4 days) ! Although there was no phone signal or internet at the bush cabins, they have just installed starlink at the Lakehouse and Hillstone Hall so it is possible to "steal" some bandwidth and make wifi phone calls from these spots. Unfortunately the fishing was slow despite the reasonable weather conditions with minimal insect hatches and not much surface activity, however based on our Central Plateau experience, it was happening all over Tasmania. The main road in is a high standard dirt road. Lake Leake is just 10mins up the road and is worth a look. The Lake Leake inn is also worth a visit! Food etc can be bought at an IGA in Campbell Town. There is also a BWS there for the more important supplies! Special thanks to Richard who helped us take a wheel off our 4wd to extract a small rock that had found its way into the ?brake mechanism and was making a horrible noise. Lots of birds, echidnas, wombats, wallabies, pheasants and deer! Had a great break, thank you Currawong Lakes!
