Next to a grocery store, good location.

It is right off the 94 freeway, so it is easy to get in and out of downtown and other tourist spots as there is less traffic compared to I-8 and I-5. For me, the best thing was the convenience the hotel’s location was able to provide me. It was near downtown, San Diego State, Balboa Park, SD Zoo, and the Hub (pickleball) was just a short distance from the hotel. Plus the staff was great, we had an issue with the TV around 1:30am in the morning and the front desk agent fix it at the same time. I appreciate the staff was those little things.

The room was nice and clean. We got room service every day, which was essential for us since we were traveling with kids. The staff was really helpful and polite. The best thing about the place was it was hotel area was really quiet at night. Overall, a great and peaceful experience.

Although this place has a few good points, it is designed like a prison cell. Seriously. Off a main road in Lemon Grove, parking is rather cramped. Check-in seems to be via the night window at all times of day (is the area that bad ??). The room itself was newly renovated, but badly. Small room with a bed, two bedside cabinets (heavy marble, with drawer rails - but no drawers...), a chest of drawers, a TV (good digital channels) and a fridge. No microwave. Lighting was harsh white ceiling lights – only. One single socket in the room – in the far corner next to the ironing board (but no iron). Owner insisted I had booked a disability room (not true) so bathroom was large. Wifi worked fine. Could hear noises from upstairs and from the stairs – very poor soundproofing. People outside on the balcony smoking. Unless you enjoy jails, don't stay here.

This place is not what it used to be. The guy located in the front desk area at 3:30 pm put me in a room for people with a handicap without asking or telling me. Not the room I booked. I didn’t bother to complain. There are no microwaves in this place anymore. No work desk and no chairs. I had to use a nightstand and the shower stool to work on my laptop. Not comfortable. There is a fridge with a freezer. The tv has many channels, and the bed is ok. No coffee. Pretty much no nothing. There is a supermarket next door. It’s not the best neighborhood. I will NEVER stay in this place again. Ugh.

First and foremost, the staff at Rodeway Inn Lemon Grove is exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to assist. The front desk staff went above and beyond to ensure my check-in was smooth and hassle-free. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, providing me with helpful recommendations for local attractions and dining options. The rooms at this hotel are clean, spacious, and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and attention to detail. The bed was incredibly cozy, and I had a great night's sleep every night during my stay. The amenities provided were top-notch, including a mini-fridge, which added to the convenience and comfort of the room.. Location-wise, the hotel is ideal. It's conveniently situated near major attractions, making it easy to access all that San Diego has to offer. Whether I wanted to explore downtown, visit the famous San Diego Zoo, or relax on the stunning beaches, everything was within a short drive from the hotel.

Do NOT book here as they will cancel your reservation last minute without any warning. I booked with them over a week ago for my stay in San Diego for a week and when I called to confirm my reservation they told me they cancelled it because the rate is very low. So basically they cancelled my room because I found a good deal and they just decided not to honor it. Not only that but nobody picked up when I called the first time. Then when I called back the second time they were extremely rude, yelling at me to call back at another time because they are busy, then before I could call back a 3rd time, a man called me back, yelled at me and told me he cancelled the reservation because of the low rate.
