Cozy Loft Cabin high above Bashakill Wildlife Refuge

Nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, Wurtsboro is a charming village just 90 minutes from NYC, celebrated for its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and historic charm. After a scenic drive up a winding rural road, guests arrive at Hiker’s Haven—a cozy, detached Loft located on the same property as our log cabin home, set on three wooded acres above the Bashakill Wildlife Refuge. While trees and foliage limit direct views of the water, you’ll hear birdsong, spot bald eagles or red-tailed hawks, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. In fall, vibrant foliage reveals glimpses of the Bashakill. The detached studio offers easy access to the Shawangunk Ridge Trail and the Long Path. Relax on the private deck, stargaze, play games, or savor S’mores around the campfire. In addition to the loft's amenities, Wurtsboro offers visitors delicious dining options like Danny's Village Inn and the Red Dot Vegetarian Kitchen, along with a variety of shops like Gigi's Coffee, vintage clothing stores, and Canal Towne Emporium. Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate nearby state forests like Wurtsboro Ridge, Roosa Gap, and Shawangunk Ridge, which boast some of the best trails in the Hudson Valley. Additionally, the town offers a bustling farmer's market on Friday evenings in the summer months. For wine lovers, Bashakill Vineyards, a small craft farm winery, is just a stone's throw away from the cabin.
