Pugdundee Safaris- Tree House Hideaway

The most unique place we stayed during our travels around the world. Rustic and charming with all the modern conveniences. Large bedroom with sitting area and writing desk. Massive covered veranda. Great location near entrances to Bandhavgarh National Park. Excellent food, superb service. Highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived here, we knew it was something special. Rajesh and the team treated us like royalty and nothing was ever too much trouble. Our tree house was rustic and gorgeous, set in the bush with nature and birds all around. One day, on the way back from a safari, we even spotted a leopard on the road, not far from the tree houses! The food was out of this world, featuring traditional Indian cuisine, thalis and international dishes. It was scrumptious and beautifully presented. One highlight was a private bush dinner just for us under twinkling lamps. If we could, we would have loved to bring the chef home! This was the perfect place to unwind after exciting tiger safaris and was our favourite place of our India trip.

I cannot recommend this resort enough. The staff were brilliant, the resort was clean and had everything you needed and the food was beautiful. We were looked after every step of the way and the staff were very caring towards our children (aged 10 and 7). We came in April and were very lucky to see 4 tigers; so a big shout out to Priyo our driver and conservation expert and the guides for giving us memories we’ll never forget. Thank you to everyone at the resort for making our stay so enjoyable!!!

I had an excellent experience at Tree House Hideaway. The safaris were amazing - I saw SEVEN gorgeous tigers in just two days. The staff were so kind and caring, accommodations were fantastic, and the food was extraordinary. I highly recommend Pugdundee Safaris and Tree House Hideaway.

A truly wonderful stay, the staff were extremely courteous, helpful and the accommodation was just fantastic. Huge tree house with a super large four poster bed with mosquito net, air conditioning, huge bathroom, balcony and lots of space for cases and sitting and relaxing. The tea and coffee were replenished every time we left the room for a safari, and it was cleaned and the bed made. After the heat of the safari we came back and rested in the air con and had drinks which was such a relief. The food was incredible, we had our appetisers upstairs in the bar, lovely tandoori and Indian flavoured bites with dips, so much we almost weren't hungry for our meal. The main meal was lovely authentic Indian, and we got to taste spiced vegetables I've never had before. The last evening they did a truly authentic evening where they cook on traditional clay oven and tandoori over, we had a lamp lit evening under a tree. Our driver for the game drive was Priyo, a biologist trained, knew so much about the animals and birds and had a clear passion. This meant he was happy to stop and let me photograph many beautiful birds as well as hunt the tigers. We were so lucky to see a tiger on our first safari drive, the largest tiger called Hulk. We waited for him to get out of his sleeping place for two hours and then he gave us a show, roaring at us about 30m away. I got amazing footage. We also had wonderful packed breakfasts during the morning drive. Priya couldn't do enough for us, even found a shop that would give us cash back as the ATM wasn't working . Words of advice, take enough rupees and in small denominations we wanted to tip and only had 500's. Early starts mean very cold and need some layers. If you are a safari veteran you'll know this but we weren't and looked very stupid in our summer things. They do provide woollen ponchos .

In the beginning of February 2025 we had the great pleasure to spend 2 whole days in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. These days were well spent together with our driver and guide Priyo at Tree House Hideaway. During this short time we had 2 tiger sightings. We felt this was very much thanks to Priyo´s excellent knowledge and experience to guide visitors in the Reserve. It was fascinating to learn how the tiger could be traced by the sounds of different alarm-calls from monkeys and deer. Our driver Priyo cleverly found the right positions with his jeep for us to have the best views of the tiger. Not an easy task on a narrow forest track among a number of other drivers with the same goal in mind. We enjoyed to learn about the tiger´s behavior and the work to maintain the tiger population in a sustainable way. A visit to Bandhavgarh is not only about spotting a tiger. The wildlife, birds and other mammals and the forest are beautiful. Tree House Hideaway left nothing for us to ask for more. For example, the Tree House Hideaway´s breakfast samosas had a reputation also among the other guide-drivers. Maria and Olof Linkoping, Sweden.
