Gay Hotel Villa Roca

This is a beautiful, well located property. Rooms are large and well appointed. Front desk was super helpful with excursions and stupid questions. Pool was amazing and the drink service fantastic. Did not try the food but it looked good. I would stay here again.

Beautiful view from the hotel! The staff was very friendly and assisted us with transportation and tours while we were there. The continental breakfast was fresh and the coffee was amazing!! The hotel room was nice and air conditioned with a mini fridge.

We spent 5 nights at Villa Roca and really enjoyed our stay; the hotel gardens are basically an extension of Manuel Antonio National Park so you can spot animals at any time (monkeys, macaws, iguanas etc.), which was pretty amazing. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. We loved having cocktails by the pool, overlooking the jungle and the ocean. What made the experience so unique is how quiet and peaceful the property is, with great ocean views, and the fabulous service we received from Albert, the restaurant manager, who hosted us every morning for breakfast. Albert is such an asset to Villa Roca, he is so attentive and informative, always smiling and happy to have a chat. The hotel is also walking distance to the village centre where you can find lots of cafés and nice restaurants.

Beautiful hotel in great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very peaceful but close to plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance. The national park is also close by and easily reached by car within a few minutes. There are stunning views from the pool area and the whole place is very laid back and relaxing.

A comfortable older hotel that is very well located and has great staff and beautiful views. Quiet from street noise, lots of wildlife to view, nice breakfasts, beautiful pool. Walking distance to very good restaurants and convenient parking. We loved waking up to the howler monkeys!

I’m going to rate this one “midland!” Here’s the good, “bad” and maybe a bit mediocre. Starting with the good/great stuff: * The staff is fantastic - every one of them but special compliments to the fantastic Alberto in the bar and the sweet and effective Joanna in the office. But seriously they all made our stay better! * The pool was FABULOUS! Perfect temperature. More than perfect views of the rainforest and ocean. * The room balcony with the little swing - and same fantastic views - were very comfortable. * The bed was nice. The pillows were HARD but they had some smaller less firm ones that they brought for us that worked. * The room was very clean! * Lots of restaurants nearby. * Our room included breakfast and they did a nice job! Very good freshly ground (and delicious!) coffee in the room. Fresh fruit plate by the pool. Several reasonable and pretty good food options to select from. It was a nice way to start the day. The less good: * We had a “superior deluxe” room but it was tiny and not what we saw online. Two of the group had rooms that matched expectations and two (including ours) didn’t. There were no chests/nightstand - no drawers for clothes at all - it made things feel messy and chaotic. There was a tiny 4*6” cement ledge next to each side of the bed. The bed was pushed against patio windows so the person on that side of the bed had to get on the bed from the foot area. It wasn’t what we thought we’d paid for. * The bathroom had no ventilation (window that opened) or fan - a little dank. It was ok but also dated a bit but smelly. The mediocre: * The other food at the restaurant was just ok - not any better than that. If I were rating just the dinner, it would be a “2.” Squash soup was tasty as were chicken tacos. if it were me I’d eat elsewhere - Ronny’s and Cafe Milagro are both nearby and “5’s!” Our room rate for the group required us to have three meals there so we were a bit stuck and most of the food was only “ok.” * The drinks at the bar were somewhat inconsistent and terribly weak unless you ordered a double for a higher price. It was disappointing. All in all it was a lovely week but I if I was doing it again (and I don’t think we will) I would have expected a room that looked like the pictures implied and would have eaten at a bigger variety of local restaurants.
