Description de l'établissement
This jewel of a private home, all to yourselves, is hidden on a narrow, quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of the ancient Moorish city of Marrakech. (Derb Alililj #29, Kaat Benahid, Marrakech, Medina) ONE Airport arrival transport (for up to 6 people) and Breakfast are included. Additional Moroccan meals are available. The cost of lunch or dinner is DH100 per person. Please make your request and pay the staff the day before the meal, so they can shop and prep. I'm sorry we do not arrange meals for the day of arrival. There are several very reasonable restaurants within a short walk from our riad for a lovely lunch or dinner on the day of your arrival. It is a world far removed, though close to the modern part of town, just a short flight from anywhere in Europe and closer to New York than is London. You will be greeted at the airport or train station and welcomed by our staff upon arrival at Dar Ajiba. From our residential neighborhood it's but a short walk to all of the craft markets (souks), open-air vegetable vendors, several important historic landmarks and one of the finest gourmet restaurants is around the corner. The UN World Heritage Site, the Jmaa el Fna square, always jumping with amazing entertainers and restaurants, is a 15 minute stroll. Though cars are not allowed into the maze of small streets, with everything so convenient a car is unnecessary, and for occasional trips to other parts of town inexpensive taxis are close by. Each morning you will be served a traditional Moroccan breakfast, included in your rate, along with light housekeeping. The house, 1700sq ft (160sq meters) on two floors, has been remodeled in the 'Beldi' style (traditional, rustic techniques), but with many modern comforts added. From the street, the carved doorway opens into a welcoming entryway leading into the terra cotta tiled courtyard open to the sky. Surrounding the courtyard, accented by a lovely wall fountain, are the doors and grill-work covered windows of the living room, office, kitchen and 1/2 bath. The living room, with hand loomed Berber carpets has two seating areas. To the right is a classic Moroccan salon with upholstered, carved banquets. On the left comfortable leather chairs and hassocks face the fireplace. The office has a desk, and a cozy banquet seating area with handwoven Atlas Mountain pillows and rug. The kitchen is complete with modern appliances and granite counter top. The next floor has three inviting bedrooms, a laundry room with washer and dryer and a charming full bath, all arranged around the courtyard with carved balustrades bordering the connecting balconies. Each room has a double bed, seating area and wrought iron grill work windows with shutters. The stairway continues up to the roof terrace that provides a spectacular view over the Old City's rooftops to the High Atlas Mountains beyond. A ramada and canopy create shaded areas with tiled table and chairs, and a staircase leads to a small observation deck for a 360 view. In a corner of this walled terrace is a private shower, and a grill work balustrade surrounds the central courtyard opening. As much or as little household help as required is available. Arrangements can be made for a cook, housekeeper, guide/translator (French and Arabic are most useful but many people also speak English). WiFi included. Our local English-speaking agent is available for orientation and assistance. The owner, fluent in Moroccan Arabic dialect, can be reached at any time by phone or email. Note: 3 upstairs bedrooms are Air-conditioned and heated. 4th bedroom, Salon and office/library are on the cooler floor and heaters are available in winter. Kitchen is open to the courtyard and therefore not air-conditioned or heated. Bring appropriate clothing as rooms are all situated around a central courtyard open to the sky.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.ATTENTION: There are a lot of stairs..About customRules:Not allowed to invite Moroccan guests for parties or sleepovers. This was hands down, the best experience you can have in Marrekech. The riad is clean and cozy, but do not expect luxury- it feels like a home, not a hotel. The staff that come in are some of the most kind people, even through language barriers. And then there is Moulay. Moulay will guide you around the Medina, introduce you to his friends, shine the light on all the best parts of old town. Truly a great guide and friend.

We loved our stay here, from being picked up at the airport, having Moulay available as a guide, and Maria and Fatama cooking a lovely breakfast and the best meal we had in Marrakesh, I would highly recommend. Location excellent too.

Special stay The Riad was perfect for us. Very cosy and colourful and we loved having breakfast on the roof top. Location perfect, central but quiet and safe. Staff lovely but an extra special mention for Moulay who greeted us at the airport, guided us for 2 days of our stay and organised our departure. He was brilliant and I don't think we would have got nearly so much out of our stay without him.

Charming authentic Riad The riad was charming, with an open rooftop patio overlooking the city, comfortable for lounging in the sun. The riad offered a good place to experience the way of life in the medina. The open hallways are best suited for warmer weather, not January, as only the rooms had heat.

Fabulous Hosts Moulay, Fatima and Maria were the best of local hosts. Moulay is very personable and was a gem from the time we first met him outside the airport. He helped us feel comfortable at all times. Would highly recommend you utilize him for at least a 1/2 day local local and we were very pleased with the full day tour we took on our first full day there. We were able to see and do specific activities you could not do on your own. Moulay also connected us with a local booking agent for activities outside Marrakech. The location of the riad is walking distance to the central square and we never felt unsafe even on our own late at night (women and children along the way). The heated living area room off the riad courtyard was great for relaxing as a family before bed. Also, the VRBO host owners Sinde and Joel, were very responsive to our inquiries. Fatima and Maria provided a home cooked Moroccan breakfast every morning. Even with the December chill, we were able to enjoy the sun and breakfast on the terrace with the wonderful view. They were both real gems to provide yogurt, apples and bananas for our very early train ride our final day.

Loved our stay in beautiful dar in Marrakech! We loved everything about our stay! Maria and Fatima made delicious breakfasts and four dinners during our two week stay. Moulay was a great guide! We appreciated the hospitality! We particularly enjoyed the roof - we had all our meals there - a great place to relax. The house was beautiful in the traditional style. Would definitely recommend!

We will definitely A wonderful family ambience. We felt as though we were welcomed into the home of an old friends. The breakfast feasts wear customized for our needs and desires, at a time of our choosing and freshly prepared each morning by Maria and Fatima. Moulay organized the airport transfer and took us around at our demand. A wonderful experience.

Experience of a lifetime This was my second stay here and I had a wonderful time. Dinner and breakfasts at the Riad were wonderful. Moulay took me to magical places I would have missed. No way to really explain the experience. Marrakesh is a strange and fantastic place and staying at the Medina is the perfect way to enjoy it. I'd like to thank the household folks for being so warm and welcoming.
